MayMy weekend was uneventful, and it was already Monday again. I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to school.
I walked inside to my first class of the day, and headed to my seat to find someone already sitting there. I was confused until I saw who it was.
"Get up, Ty." I said approaching the seat. He looked up and chuckled.
"Hey May, what's good?" He responded, still seated.
"I'm surprised to actually see you in school." I admitted, an amused look on my face.
His hair was neatly pulled into cornrows and he had recently been lined up. He had on a comfy fit, and I noticed his ears had now been priced.
"I have to get my education somehow." He smiled.
Tyler was the final member of our incredible group of three. Me, Ty, and Brook, who have all been friends since grade school.
They were really the only ones I called friends, but Ty was barely ever at school. Along with his grades and attendance, I don't know even how he made it this far.
"Ain't now way!" Brook spoke as she walked into class.
"Wow it's nice to know that everyone missed me." Ty said happily.
"Yeah yeah. We don't miss you, we're more worried about if you're gonna graduate or not." Brook laughed.
"This school can't contain my greatness even if they wanted to." Ty responded.
Brook and I rolled our eyes and looked at each other before busting out laughing.
"Ty, just get out of here before the teacher comes in and yells at you." I said wiping my tears. But it was already too late as the teacher had made her way into the class and was staring us down like a hawk.
We went silent and Ty quickly got up and apologized to the teacher before running out the classroom.
I quietly slid into my seat, the teachers eyes still boring into mine. I looked away, and decided to pull out my folder along with my work in an attempt to look productive.
It obviously did not work, as expected because when I glanced up her eyes were still lingering on me before she finally looked away and spoke.
Thank God.
"Good morning class. I hope you're all having a great Monday." She stated sarcastically before continuing, "Let's pull out the homework I assigned over the weekend." She smiled.
Her remark caused most of the class to groan or gasp, likely forgetting we even had homework.
The teacher grabbed a blank assignment sheet from her desk and copied the first question onto the board, then turning to the class.
"Okay, any volunteers to tackle this one?" She glanced around the room.
There were no volunteers, everyone instead tried their hardest to avoid eye contact, myself included.
It was too early for this.
"Okay..." She frowned, "May." She said, my attention snapping to her.
Fuck me.
"Why don't you come up here and show us how to solve this problem?" She asked with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
Just my luck.
I reluctantly got up from my chair and slowly made my way to the board. I got stares from all around the room as I reached the front and grabbed a dry erase marker.
