Despite this we managed to walk our way forward, and it was only when they stopped without any warning that I slipped on the white mass and fell. I sort of expected the fall to be shortened by the grip on my arm, but it never happened and instead I landed headfirst into the white mass. Unlike the first time I quickly got back up on my feet and looked at them, but they seemed like they were in an entirely different world. While following their gaze, I hoped to see what had gotten them in such a trance, but it was like looking at a wall. There was absolutely nothing to be seen, or at least so I thought since I couldn't see anything; it just looked like a wall of darkness. So, when I watched them reach out their hand like they were grabbing something; a part of me thought that they were insane. The other part hoped that they knew that we had something ahead of us, especially something that would end this tricky walk. And although I had seen every step of the way, I couldn't help but flinch when a bright light suddenly appeared. After walking in the darkness with only a torch as our main source of light, this felt like looking straight into the sun.
I could feel the grip on my arm tighten and they started leading me towards the light, behind me I could hear something getting shut. Almost immediately they let go of my arm and started talking to someone in their language, So I carefully opened my eyes to see where we were at. And to my surprise, we were inside a house. Well calling it a house might have been putting it out of proportion in comparison to the houses I was used with, but it was too big to be called a cabin. It felt like it would've been a warm and welcoming place if it wasn't for the smell. I couldn't even begin to explain to myself what it was that I was smelling, because there were just too many different scents. What felt worse was that the bonfire that was placed in the middle of the house made all of them smell stronger, which didn't make me feel any better about it.
To divert my nose, I looked at them to see for how much longer they were going to talk. Not really sure why that was what I decided to do, but I did. And just by looking at how eagerly they were talking to one another, it almost felt like we weren't going to leave this house any time soon. So, when the person who led me here started taking off their jacket; I wasn't that surprised about it. What did surprise me was that when the turned around towards me, they didn't seem to look at me or take any notice of my existence. In fact, they acted like they had come into this house completely empty handed, and when they had put away the jacket; they just turned back around to the other person again.
