You went to testified, leslie helps you to remember and reveal everything you know in detail about erik and his parents years ago, on the other hand, the prosecutor pam bosanich trying so hard to destroy all your testimony. But you're not flinch, you laid all the proof and made most of the jury believe.
When the judge said the trial for today is over and will be presume tomorrow, erik quickly turn his head and look at you, he desperately wanna talk to you, he ask leslie if he could see you after the trial, leslie said she will make an arrangement for you to visit him. The guards guide lyle and erik out the court back to their tiny cell, he waved and smiled at you as he walk to the door.
Leslie told erik that you would visit him today, he felt mix feeling between excited, ashamed, and mad. His heart beating faster than ever, he walk into the visiting room, a room with a glass divider that make a clear line between the prisoner and the family. You saw him, the warden shackled his hand and feet with iron chain, "you have 1 hour to talk" said the warden brief and cold, erik just nodded.
Finally, erik sat down infront of you, a thick glass separates you two, you need telephone to speak so he can hears you clearly. You try so hard not to cry, but as soon as he speaks on the phone you couldn't help it, you're sobbing, he try to calm you down, "please don't cry, i'm fine."
"I'm sorry, i'm so sorry erik."
"For what?"
"I shouldn't leave USA, if i didn't leave you that time maybe i could stop you, maybe this nightmare didn't happen"
"Magno, it's not your fault, i've made the worst decision of my life and now i have to pay the price."
"You didn't deserve it, you really don't, after all what happen to you, you shouldn't be here erik"
"This is my life now, this is where i belong" he kept his head down.
You kept shaking your head, you clearly show that you still couldn't accept this.
"I wanna hold you so bad, i really miss you." He speaks in a calm soothing voice.
You look up to him, "so do i"
"How you doing?" He try to change the topic to cheer things up.
You wiped your tears, "I wanna say fine but deep down i'm not"
"You're not happy to see me apart from all of these circumstances?"
"I do, i really do" he make you smile.
"I'm so glad to hear that, i'm beyond grateful to see you again after 4 years apart"
"Erik.." you put your palm on the glass, he mimic you, you could see his hand way bigger than yours.
"You don't know how much i want to break this glass into pieces" he chuckled.
"Brace your self, i dont want you to get into trouble" you smiled back.
"Magno, i had so many things to say to you, i always wondering what you do all these years. When i found out that you left USA, i was extremely devestated, i felt that my whole world crumbled, you're the most important person in my life magno. I was so mad at you that i knew this from jen, not directly from you, how could you didn't say anything?"
"what your father said to me that morning hit me real hard, i felt that if i push my self to be with you, i'm just gonna bring you down, so i decided not to see you again, i'm sorry erik"
"I'm sorry that i wasn't defend you enough back then, i'm a coward" he kept look down.
"Well it's the past.. hurtful past.. but we couldn't change it"
"Magno.. you gonna stay for long here?"
"I'm gonna stay here for a month, i would love to stay longer but i should go back to study"
"Right, you have future ahead of you"
"So do you"
"The result of the trial is either death sentence or life incarcerated without parole, so basically i have no future outside prison"
"Erik, i'll stand by you no matter what"
The warden warn erik, "Menendez, your visit time is up."
"Would you please write me letter?"
"Sure, we can call too, right?"
"Yes, i'll ask leslie to put you in the caller list"
"Okay"
"Magno, thank you for came back and testified, it meant everything for me" he trying so hard to not break down.
"Ofcourse i come back, please stay strong erik"
He nodded, hang up the phone and stand up from his chair, the warden walk him out.
