The Christmas period passes quickly despite the torture of not being able to see Leah these days.

Christmas Eve and Christmas, I was distracted by Jess and my parents insisting that we make traditions. I was convinced by Jess, her parents don't celebrate Christmas so since we became inseparable she spends Christmas here.

That's how I followed all the traditions and ate all the Christmas food possible.

I talk to Leah frequently during the day, her family, especially her mother, takes Christmas very seriously. So when Leah takes a while to see my message or respond to me, I don't complain.

I mean, I even received a photo of Leah and her mother Amanda dressed as a camel, I hadn't seen this kind of tradition in any other family, but I won't be the one to get in the way of that, so I avoided disturbing Leah while she spent this time with her family and she did the same to me.

On the 27th, my parents' last day here in London, they invaded my video call with her. I have to say that despite the shock and fear of talking to my parents, Leah did a good job.

"You must be Leah, right? We were excited to meet you, it's a shame it didn't happen." I don't even notice when my mother enters my room, much less when she takes the cell phone from my hand.

"Mamma, senza spaventarla" I asked my mother not to scare her, which she, thank God, listened to.

"It's a real shame, Mrs. Martini. I hope to see you soon in the future." I don't even see her trying hard to charm my mother, she's just being herself.

"Leah, you can call me Ines. Mrs Martini too impersonal for Ariella's girlfriend. "

"Okay...Ines?"

"Much better. "

Mamma quickly engages Leah in an interrogation about the stadiums Leah has played in and then rattling off her list of stadiums where she and Papa have been.

My dad soon arrives in the room but doesn't interrupt the conversation between the two, just greets Leah quickly.

"Even though I play a lot at Meadow Park and won the Euros at Wembley, I think my favorite is probably Highbury, but I'm going to say it's Emirates now."

"She's really loyal to her team, right?" My father says softly to me, raising his eyebrows in admiration.

"Yes, she really is."

I see Leah easily engage my mother in another conversation, my mother already knows about Leah's injury and how her Christmas was.

They easily became close during the conversation, which doesn't surprise me. They are the most interesting people to talk to that I know, obviously they would have good long conversations.
