Overwhelmed

The door softly clicked shut behind Luke and he heard paws clicking on the floor before Petunia appeared in the hallway, happily waddling over to Luke.

"Hey Piggy," Luke sniffled and bent down to scratch his dog behind her ears. Petunia pushed forward into Luke's hands.
Luke's tears were freely running now and blurring his vision and he opted for sitting down on the cold tiles of his entryway. Petunia half climbed in his lap and Luke wrapped both his arms around her while all his dams broke and he let out all his confusion and desperation in heart wrenching sobs.

Luke didn't know how long he sat there but it must've been hours. The light had started leaking out of the house and shadows had crept in, painting everything in cold rough shapes. Petunia eventually wiggled out of his grip and proceeded to signal him that she needed to pee.
Luke unfolded himself from the floor, limbs stiff from the cold and from sitting in the same position for hours. He crossed the hallway and living room and opened the backdoor for his puppy. Usually he would take a walk with her but there was no way he could go out looking like he did right now.
His eyes hurt and burned like they were on fire, his chest ached from sobbing and his voice was scratchy. If someone saw him like this, the tabloids would love it.

Luke left the backdoor open for Petunia to freely wander in and out while he decided to take another shower. He felt disgusting.
However the shower didn't do much, except hide his tears by washing them down the drain.

He tried eating something but when he opened the fridge, everything inside made him feel sick by just looking at it.

He tried to distract himself by watching TV but he couldn't concentrate on the story. His mind kept drifting off.

He put on his headphones and tried to drown out the world by listening to his favorite songs. Petunia had come back in and snuggled up to him. Luke was staring at the ceiling, his thoughts chasing in circles. He wished all of this to be a dream. He wished he could go back and undo everything. He wished he didn't have to deal with this now.
He felt like he was slowly drowning.

Usually he would call someone now. Usually he'd call one of his best friends. But this was something he couldn't tell Ash and Mike. And Cal was part of the problem.
He thought about calling his best friend Sierra but then remembered she was on vacation with her mum and a few time zones away. He also didn't want to bother her with this when she was on holiday.
He contemplated calling his therapist but immediately shut that down.
This wasn't a therapist problem.
He wanted a hug. Preferably from his mum but that wasn't an option.

So he circled back to the only person he could talk to since that person was part of the problem.

Can you come over
and distract me?

Calum softly knocked on Roy's bedroom door and waited for a confirmation before entering.

His roommate was laying upside down on his bed, phone in his hand and looking at Calum expectantly.

"Do you have any evening plans? No? Good. Can you watch Duke?," Calum asked.
Roy's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Dude, what's up with you?," he asked.

"Luke just asked me to come over. He needs my help," Calum said and sat Duke down on the floor.

"Why don't you take Duke with you? I was supposed to meet someone for dinner later," Roy said.
