Chapter Ten

Saturday

[8:03pm]

Jay stands next to his father, both him and Sunoo pretending to be interested in what Jay and Lina's father's were currently talking about. Soyun hadn't tried to cling to Jay since he had come back from his dance with Lina and he was almost feeling suspicious about it, but he just wanted to go back for a second dance.

"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to get another drink." Soyun says dryly, nodding at the men before walking away. Jay turns his head slightly as she walks behind him, the girl completely bypassing the drink table. He nudges Sunoo, the boy turning to look in Soyun's direction.

"Well, that can't be good." Sunoo mutters, him and Jay glancing at each other for a moment before excusing themselves as well. They both follow after Soyun, finding the girl standing at the balcony doors. The pair stop at the doors, their eyes landing Hyun and Lina. The girl is visibly being held up by Hyun, her skin pale. She's breathing harder than she should be, red splotches breaking out over her skin.

"What the hell is going on here?" Sunoo shouts, rushing towards Lina and Hyun. Jay starts towards the two of them, only stopping when Soyun grabs his arm.

"Jay, it's not what it looks like." She says, her eyes desperately pleading with him. Jay jerks his arm out of her grasp, scowling at the girl.

"I'll deal with you later." He says quietly before turning back towards Hyun, waiting until Sunoo has taken Lina out of the way to shove the boy. Hyun crashes into the balcony railing, flinching as he holds his ribs.

"I'm going to kill you." He says, holding Hyun's collar with both of his hands.

"Jay! Something's wrong." Sunoo says from his place on the ground, he was holding Lina in his lap. Jay shoves Hyun back one last time before moving to Lina's side.

"Call an ambulance, now!" Jay barks, not speaking to anyone in particular. He notices a crowd gathering at the doors, taking his suit jacket off and laying it over the shivering girl. Jay cups her cheek, startled by just how cold and clammy her skin had gotten. Lina's skin was almost blue as she lays in Sunoo's lap, the boy looking like he was going to start crying at any moment.

"Oh my god, Lina!" Mr. Bae's voice calls, the older man appearing next to the two boys soon after. He reaches a shaky hand out to his daughter's face, looking at both boys.
