Arrangement : with the gang leader

Adeola threw out some cuss words but nothing else. In the kitchen, we were busy with something. 

"Come, lets talk" koko says. 

I follow her outside. 

"Koko? o shapo nare?" I ask. 

"My baby, that man loves you and you love him. Your story is inevitable. I only have one problem with this" she says, and I listen. 

"You're not praying for your union. You know the type of person he is so why are you not praying for union Lerato?" she says, and I look down.

The truth is, I don't see myself with Shadow long term. It's all good and cute now but if I'm being honest, I just don't see it working out. A gangster and a church student? I continue looking down.  

"Koko..." I start but she's already shaking head in disapproval. 

"My baby, pray. There's a lot coming your way and you'll need to be strong but just know that what God puts together no man can separate not even that Ade girl" she says with a smirk and I laugh. Trust koko to throw jabs.

"I don't know koko. I just feel like this is a lot." I say, honestly.

"I know it's a little hard now and that the things I'm saying don't make sense to you. You may think or have an idea of a certain kind of man that you want for yourself or think that God wants for you but that is not for you to decide. God has a plan for everyone. Trust in Him and just leave it all to prayer" she says.

I nod, "thank you koko, I'll do that" 

"Okay ge ngwanaka. Let's go back in there and finish turning that kitchen into a hot mess because we must eat nice today and tomorrow phela" she say and we laugh. 

We return to the kitchen and continue doing what we're doing. 

What started being weird was when Ade started being nice to me. I knew she wasn't going t act crazy in front of koko but she's doing too much. She would offer help even when unnecessary and just go all out to be a good 'friend' to me. 

"Hhay en nou? Keng ka lona, I leave y'all for just a little and now yall are besties?"  whispers to me.

"Lenna I dont know. She's being very off." I say to T, also equally as sus about the situation. 

I go hand the meat to the guys outside and White pulls me aside.

"How're you feeling? I saw everything. You and the boy back at it now, y'all good?" he asks with a big grin on his face. Shame. 

I sigh, "No, I just did that to spite Ade. We're not together" 

His face falls, " Nah, that didn't just look like that. What happened when y'all left together?" 

"Nothing" I say, voiding his gaze. 

"Look at me and try lying a little better this time" he says.

"Like I said, nothing is happening, at least nothing serious is happening between your friend and I. He made his bed and now he must lay on it" I say and he furrows.

"What are you talking about now? I know y'all be fighting but it couldn't have been anything that serious that y'all would actually just drop things completely like that. Lee, you don't just give up on people like that. We spoke about this" he say and I furrow my brows before quickly realizing that he doesn't know EVERYTHING that happened and I just sigh. 

"It's so much deeper than that. And I just don't see myself in a relationship with a gangster like that. Ke shapo man" I say and he shakes his head in disapproval.
