Project Honkai (VERSION 1, DISCONTINUED)

Game start!

        Imagine yourself, actually playing the game that you have been obsessing with for years...... but in real life. That's how my life is. I'm Chara, your average normal girl. Average friend group, average looks, and average grades. And somehow, I'm the main character of this story.

         Now let me introduce you to a game called Honkai. In this game, you have to fight enemies in order to stay alive. Each time you kill an enemy you get granted a purify gem. With that gem, you combine it with your soul to stay alive. Did I mention that every time you use your magic then a part of your soul depletes? They say that it's almost like a simulation as there are many glitches and codes found in the anime adaptation of the game. The characters almost act real. It's quite significant if you ask me. Now, in Honkai there are many different cities each having their own sort of god. There are Advent, Mondstat, Aurelius, Sumeru, Asgard, and more, just to name a few. For example, Mondstat is ruled by the god Barbatos! Barbatos was said to have ended slavery in Mondstat and have saved millions of lives in war. Many theories suggest that he is the god of wind and freedom. Unfortunately, it is said that he has been put in a deep slumber.

          You probably won't believe me when I say that I find this game so interesting! Being honest, the suspense in the game is so thrilling! The characters are so cool too! Just look at Ruan Mei for example! Her character development is so interesting and she is one of the most powerful characters.  Another one is Himeko! There are so many theories about her. People say that she was actually the god of flame. And then there is Seele! Seele was theorized to be the little girl that was tortured in the story books. My honest favorite character is a character named Kronnii! She was said to have time powers and was said to never be able to die. Whenever she "dies" she actually is just put back in time to restart her timeline. The lore to her is actually insane since she was supposedly the first magical girl in Honkai history!

Sadly, most of the magical girls that have a lot of lore to them have died. The only actual magical girl to survive and beat the game was a certain traveler that we play as. They swept through the lands easily and helped many people along the way. They defeated the evil dragon Stormterror and did many other wondrous things that may seem impossible for other magical girls.

         'Such an interesting story right? The plot is so thrilling' is what I want to think. I'm actually afraid of this game but I just can't stop thinking about it. It's almost like a curse of some sorts.

         "Hey Chara, have you heard about the new Honkai season?" my friend Akane says. Akane is a Honkai obsessed fan. She will kill just to be in this game. She's been acting quite odd recently. Her eyes seem to be losing light almost and she always starts giggling uncontrollably when we're talking about a big problem in our school. Sociopathic you can say.

I check my watch. 7:15 in the morning. School should be starting in a bit. My friends kept talking about their favorite characters in Honkai and the best quest in the entire game. As we were walking something flashed in my eyes. A vision? It looked like there was blood and glass shards everywhere. Hmph... must've been my head again. I haven't been getting much sleep lately so it makes sense if I start getting hallucinations out of nowhere.

           My friends have always been so fascinated by this game/anime. It has always been their dream to actually be in the game! I never could... understand what they meant by that. Like, why would you ever want to join a game as violent as that? Sure, you could make friends but the chances of them not dying is zero! You have to be real psychopathic if you would want to join a game like that. I really can never understand people these days.

            My life used to be perfectly normal, until all of that changed. It was just a normal Tuesday, or well I thought, at school, 9:52 am, and my teacher said she wanted a talk with me. She told me that since I was super cool and smart and I had a lot of free time, I had to do a research project on a certain game. Obviously, I chose Honkai. The project is due on Friday at 12:00.

I've been researching this game for quite some time now. It has been exactly 5 hours and 32 minutes since I started researching. Turns out these characters are real people? Another weird thing is that the place that part of the game takes place in is actually an abandoned school not far from here. Articles say that that school is actually the city of Advent. Also, each of the "characters" are dead. All by suicide. Though all the causes of death are different. Hanging, decapitation, burning alive, jumping, and the list goes on. A VR headset has been found at each of their deaths. I tried investigating the abandoned school and I found one of the headsets. I look at the clock. "12:34 am." Around the headset, there are shards of glass and rose petals. Maybe this leads to the game. I hesitate at first but then I take a deep breath in. I tried putting the headset on and vwoosh! A bright light flashes in my eyes. Before I could do something I blacked out and fell unconscious.

      I wake up and check my watch. 6:27 pm. I feel dizzy and lightheaded. Now where am I? There are a bunch of giant mushrooms..... with eyes?!?! It's almost like I'm in a dream. There I meet a girl. Her name is Yumeko. She has light pink hair and magenta eyes. She's in a fairy-like costume and she has many accessories that look majestic. 

        "Welcome to the magical city of Advent!" she said. "My name is Yumeko but you can call me Yume! I am your travel companion for this journey, but I suggest not getting too attached."

        What is this?! Advent? Travel companion?! What is this, an isekai story?!!? No this can't be real. It's probably just a dream right? Probably. There's no way I am actually buying this crap. I'm probably gonna wake up in a minute or two.

       "W-Wait, I never agreed to this! What am I doing here!" I look down to see a decapitated head rolling on the floor. My eyes widen. I start hyperventilating. What am I going to do? Do I have to fight? Am I going to die? What about the project due on Friday?!

          "Oh silly, you chose to be here!" Yume says. What! Since when? Did I sign a contract with the devil or something?! "When did I choose to be here!" I asked. "Well, then what's the reason you put on the VR headset?"

       Oh crap. She's right. I completely forgot about that. Wait, I can just take the headset off right? I try my best to pull the headset off of my head. It doesn't work? Crap, everyone's looking at me. I probably look like an idiot right now.

"Ughhh! How the hell do I get out!" I cried. I start looking around for the nearest exit, banging on walls, tears streaming down my face.
"You can't," Yume says.
