Through the history, there were many civilizations, vast, powerful, those, that through the way they ruled, made their mark on the history. Unfortunately, ambition brings chaos, which, cheap to create, is almost impossible to overcome, leading only to failure. Great empires, wreaking havoc across neighbouring regions, suddenly disappear, blown away just like dust on the wind.
The only thing that remains after them, is knowledge. Teaching, on how to act, grow strong and what to avoid, to not meet the same destiny as predecessors. Failure, being the best motivator, shapes the mind of a human, towards greatness. Nations may fall, but the idea they carried, will remain alive in the minds of those, who want to follow in steps of glory.
Humanity, stubborn, naive, was able to led to disaster on such a scale, that their kind was almost wiped out from existence. Only thanks to sheer determination that mankind can show when put in the darkest of situations, was humanity able to escape the grip of destructive death.
What would have happened, if there were no such amounts of willpower? Would humanity give up, accepting their fate? Most probably, they would share the same fate, as the blind, ancient civilization, that lived on Eiyressia long before anyone from Earth set foot on it for the first time. Humanoid creatures, taller than a normal human by a small margin, with their significant distinction being their long limbs and skin, white as the snow that covers mountains.
Little is known about them, about their work, art they made, culture that flowed through their nation. Things, that remained, are only empty husks of a species that once dominated the planet, now driven in madness, which will never find its end.
The blind come from Freir, which in their language means "home". A forgotten continent, a place separate from the rest of the world by large oceans, named ocegardo, which are inhibited by creatures who thanks to high aggression and viciousness held humanity back, from getting to that land. They couldn't stop the blind however. Crossing the waters, they reached the shores of other continents, building settlements there.
Using their surroundings as good as they could, they adapted, developed further. They achieved things, that humanity to this day can't replicate. Monuments, which even after destructive effect of time still astonish with their beauty, the craftsmanship, they were made with.
They worked using the intelligence and knowledge, that was given to them by nature. Being blessed with great intellect by mother nature, one far greater than those of even the greatest geniuses of humankind, the blind never fought each other. War was something unnecessary for them, as it only led to death, a loss of life and nothing more. Fighting over materialistic needs was unfit for them. In unity, they could make a bigger impact, than waging war against each other. Some would say, that the life they lived, was almost like in heaven. No pain, hardships, whatsoever.
Soon, the entire world was in their grasp. They reached the depths of the planet, climbed the top of the world, preaching their history from it. All corners of the planet discovered, mapped out, deeply explored. But that was not enough for them, it would not satisfy their craving for more knowledge. In their mind, stopping would lead to their demise, end of an era, that had only just begun.
A plan was created, far greater than anything done before. To see the light, always seeming so near, yet always out of reach. They wanted to see Kezisjarenia, shatter the bonds of mortality, gaining unnatural power. No thought was given to moral reasoning behind the plan. Deep down in their hearts, they knew that this quest, would make them eternal, their memories would live on, forever engraved in the planet.
Accepting Kezisjarenia was impossible for them, as they only saw an ancient being in her, that looked at them in the distance, laughing at all the miserable attempts at getting but a fraction of the power, she held. They began a process, which they thought, would give them the same strength as of the false queen, who controlled all the souls.
It is from this period in the history of the blind that most things are known. Relicts, telling the history about how the blind tried to acquire the power of a god, a power bending order of the normal world. Abandoned, ruined structures, filled with books, written in their language, revealing truths, that should never see the light of day.
Based on all the information that can be gathered, it shows, that the blind discarded everything, all of their previous work, just for this one goal. They stopped developing new technology, exploring the unknown corners of space. The idea, that one day, thanks to all the hard work, they could steal Kezisjarenia's power and harness it, motivated them towards action.
During this period, the greatest building in the history of their kind was created, one where for the first time, they tried to bend nature. Legendary city of Odyss, city on water, amidst the vast ocegardo emptiness, deep in the waters of giant oceans. Although, the results were not those they wanted, failure only made them sure of what they want to achieve. The city, now turned into a lab, where they could study all gathered information.
Knowing that depths would not lead them to any fruitful results, they moved on, towards the summit of the world, where they began their blasphemous rituals. Kezisjarenia, unable to tolerate the fact, that the blind wanted to shatter the order, that existed for centuries, made her move, after decades of passive observing.
With a blaze of light, that spread through the entire world, she gave their name the true meaning it had, depriving them at the same time, of the thing, that made them stand against powers beyond their comprehension in the first place. She took away their intelligence. Without it, they fell into madness, loosing control over themselves. Nation, build on the idea of progress, knowledge, science, destroyed.
Those, who remained, changed, adapting once again to the environment, now so unfamiliar, unknown to them. They forgot about their past, only caring for their own good. Intelligence, driven out by primal instincts only left in artefacts, that they left behind. Now, all that lives on, is a species, that is a constant reminder to everyone, to not try to bend the laws of nature again.
