"Are you okay?" I said to Katy as she opened the front door. She looked like death. She was paler than usual, if that was possible, almost grey and her cheeks were sunken and hollow. She had bruising blue bags under her eyes and her lips looked chapped and sore. "Yeah," she replied, sounding tired and deflated. "I'm fine. Now lets go."
We had to get the bus to the address and Katy spent the whole time with her head against the window. Her eyes looked heavy and she looked like she wanted to fall asleep. I was worried about her, but I didn't want to ask her if she was okay yet again because she would just moan and yell at me.
"Daisy! Katy!" Sebastian slurred as he answered the door. His usually perfectly styled hair was messy and tangled as he swayed on the spot. "Welcome to me palace! What's mine is yours. Enjoy yourself." He staggered away from the door towards the living room, almost tripping over his own feet in the process. I held back the need to take his hand and guide him to prevent him from seriously injuring himself.
We followed him into the sitting room of his house where we were met with Jack, Rory, and older girl and two older boys I didn't recognise. Everyone had a bottle of beer in their hand except Jack. Sebastian slumped down onto the armchair that the girl was sitting on and almost knocked her off in the process. She was blonde, but t was a disgusting yellow blonde that was obviously out of a bottle, unlike mine. She was wearing virtually nothing, shorts and a vest so short that they could have passed for a bikini. Sebastian leaned up and kissed her on the lips. She seemed a little startled, but she eventually closed her eyes and kissed back. I tried not to gag. I my heart rate began to speed up as I flicked my eyesight to the ground and sat on the arm of a sofa next to Jack.
"Disgusting, isn't it?" he said to me. I could see their tongues swirling inside each other's mouth. My top lip curled as I nodded.
Katy gently sat in between Jack and Rory. "Are you okay?" Rory asked her. "You don't look very well." I smiled at how thoughtful Rory was being. His hair was down and lose, dark curls falling into his eyes and tickling the nape of his neck. His brown eyes were shining as he placed his beer bottle on the ground. Katy nodded. "I'm fine," she whispered. Rory seemed to disagree with Katy's answer but decided to drop it anyway. "Katy," I said. It took longer than natural to face me and, when she did, her eyes looked glazed and unfocused. "That's Rory. He's the guy I was telling you about." She turned back around and smiled at him, but it looked painful and unnatural.
When Sebastian finally took a breath away from the unnamed girl, he turned to face me. "H-how rude of me," he stammered. "Do any of you lovely ladies want a drink?"
I shook my head but Katy nodded. "K knows how to party," he smiled and stood up, almost stumbling and falling in the process. "You, on the other hand, are missing out. I feel fabulous." He climbed over invisible obstacles and made his way to the kitchen.
I turned to Jack. "What is wrong with him?" I asked. "He's drunk," Jack said matter-of-factly. "I know that. I mean, why? It's only 9:30," Jack shrugged. "He started smoking and skipping class again. He hardly speaks to me anymore. When I try to, the conversations are very one sided." "Maybe I should go talk to him," I said. "You can try, but I doubt he'll listen. Especially in the state that he's in."
