"You want.. a teenager to fight in a war against your drinking buddies." She states incredulously, giving him a pointed look from her side of the couch.
"Hey, I need all the help I can get, okay?" Tony huffed, crossing his arms over her chest. "Plus, I already went through the trouble of recruiting that Spider-kid.. you know what his excuse was? Homework."
She scoffed, "Oh, the great Iron Man is asking for two barely legal teens to fight in a civil war." scowled Courtney, her voice laced with sarcasm.
"Come on, Court-"
"Don't. Call me that." she raised a finger at him like an angry mother.
The man sighed, "Alright. Courtney.. What do you want in return?"
"Oh! So you're buying your way to my death."
"Listen, Kid. People's lives are on the line. Just help out an old man here." this was one of the only few times she saw Tony grew a bit softer.. it was odd as fuck.
"Fine. I want a specially made, new case for Cosmo.. he's getting tired of his crate." she gave him a cocky look as her staff let out a flicker of excitement.
"..Who's Cosmo- You named your stick."
"You named the robot."
"No, you named it."
"Do we have a deal or what?" Courtney stood up and walked over to where he was leaning on the wall.
Tony stayed silent for a few seconds before sighing again, pushing himself off the wall and holding out his hand. "Deal." he grumbles defeatedly.
She gave him a winning smile and happily shook his hand.
"A limo will come pick you up in a few days. I'll message you the details." he then began making his way out of the apartment without even looking back.
When she heard the door click, signalling he was out, she sank into the couch and let out a tired sigh..
What has she gotten herself into..

"Courtney."
"Hey, Courtney"
"Hello! Courtney"
"Courtney Whitmore-"
"Yes, Ma'am-" her head jolted up suddenly, she looked around, luckily she was not in class.
"Hey, Hello?" she flinches again, finally looking at her friend.
MJ gave her a deadpan yet very concerned look, "You good?"
"Y-Yeah! Sorry.. was I zoning out?" she rubbed her eyes tiredly, and stretched her limbs out a little bit.
"For five whole minutes, what is up with you?" her friend furrowed her eyebrows as she took a bite out of her sandwich.
"Got a visit from an old friend.. gonna be out of town for a couple of days." she groggily pushed her lettuce around with her fork, her head resting on her cheeks.
"More 'hero' work?" MJ tilts her head to the side, watching her blonde friend nearly dropping her head into her plate of salad.
"I guess you can say that.." yawned Courtney. She wasn't in the mood to discuss the interaction and the whole shit show she was about to be a part of, nor does she give a rat's ass, plus New York has plenty of those anyways.
The two girls walked side by side through the hallway, about to make a stop by their lockers to get ready for the next period when they noticed a little commotion. They both exchanged questioning looks and decided to investigate. Pushing through the sweat-stained jocks and booked-up nerds, they reached the centre of the crowd to find good ol' Flash Thompson in a mini basketball tournament with.. Peter Parker?
"Well ain't this a show.." MJ murmured, looking simply bored.
"I mean, compared to other things we saw.. this one is at least entertaining." Courtney mused, crossing her arms.
Peter was carefully dribbling the ball while staying in place as Flash continuously mocks him.
"You're hilarious, Porker. Isn't he, everyone? Isn't he?" he quipped, almost obnoxiously.
As jock-ish this guy tries to be, the only word that can describe him is in five letters. Loser. I will, however, admit that it's decently entertaining, given how dull the regular school day would be.
She was so lost in her self-narration, she didn't even realise that Peter had smacked Flash in the face, point blank, with the ball. She quickly snapped back into reality, thanks to the 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from the crowd of students.
"Darn you, Parker!" Flash stumbles but tries to retaliate by throwing the ball at him but it bounced off the lockers and the ceiling before beginning to curve in the blonde's direction. But in a blink of an eye, Peter was right in front of her, raising his arm up and catching the ball inches from her face.
"Are you okay?" He turns to her and frantically looks her up and down.
Courtney was.. loading.. she was furiously blinking, glancing back and forth from Peter's previous location and his current one. "Y-Yeah, I'm good.. Thank you?" she was able to croak out softly, hoping to reassure him. Although, her mind was still caught up in the logistics of Peter's speed. Even one of the most athletic people would not be able to achieve that sort of.. speed? Not to mention the velocity the ball was travelling in. It seemed.. extremely odd.
A teacher then emerged from the nearby classroom, due to the commotion, causing the crowd to quickly disperse. MJ grabbed her arm and swiftly dragged her outside, and away from the crowd.
"What the heck was that?" her friend grumbles quite loudly.
"You saw it too?" Courtney sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "I thought I was seeing things.."
"How did nobody else react?" MJ stuffed her hands in her jacket pocket as they continued to walk.
"Maybe, we were closer.."
"Or maybe.. we're just both exhausted." she responded plainly and , "Maybe we should just head home and rest up.. plus you said you had that big hero trip right?"
"Right.. right."
