- CHAPTER EIGHT -
"LOVE IS BLIND."January 1, 2020
8:37 pmBrooke was tired.
Sure, any normal person would be tired on New Year's Day. But Brooklyn Jericho was exhausted.
She hadn't spent her night partying and hooking up with strangers like many would presume. That's the old Brooke. The new Brooke was barely getting by.
"What ever has been bothering you?" Brandi asked the younger girl. She was accompanying the girl to a place in the crowd alongside AEW security. Brooke had a segment coming up at the end of Jon's match against TRENT.
Brooke sighed. "It's New Year's," she responded, plainly, "I'm tired."
The truth was, Brandi and Cody had been on her case for the past two weeks. Chris had come to them after spending Christmas with his daughter who seemed so sad. However, where Jon would joke around, Brandi and Cody could be so crude.
Brooke knew they meant well. But a part of her resented them for the fact that they unknowingly were the source of her problem. If it weren't for them, maybe Tyson wouldn't be so ashamed of liking her.

"Brooke," Brandi grabbed her arm, clearly frustrated. "What could be so wrong in your life to make you act like such a child?"
The question caught the blonde off guard. Brandi came across acting as if Brooke had a perfect life with no reasons to be sad. Brooke felt so offended by that claim—especially the fact that Brandi, once again, compared her to a child.
Brooklyn was nineteen years old. She was not a child. Why couldn't anyone accept that?
Brooke ran a hand through her hair, seeing red. "Maybe if people stopped treating me like a child, I'd stop acting like one."
Brandi flinched at the words. Immediately, her eyes softened seeing tears form in Brooklyn's eyes. The girl was clearly bothered by something, and it made her maternal instinct cry.
"Brooke, what happened?" Brandi touched her arm, her voice calming. "I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong."
Brooke took a deep breath, shaking her head as her breath became unsteady. The woman's mood changes were exhausting to the younger girl. First, Brandi acted as if Brooke was spoiled, and now she was acting as if she was a hurt puppy.
If only she would have went to WWE instead.
Brandi spoke again. "Brooke, you're panicking. Is the show too much for you? We can cut down your hours, get you a therapist—"
