[Y/n's POV]
My chest heaved, my hand unconsciously moving to move a rogue strand of hair out of my eyes as the last hilichurl tumbled to its knees in front of me, it's disintegrating body quickly disappearing before my eyes.
I fastened my catalyst, Crane's Echoing Call, to my belt. It had taken me years to find one of these gems, and I was pleased to say it was the only weapon I had been using since. It was good enough for what I usually dealt with. The best part was that if I tried hard enough, I was able to conjure Cryo weapons, such as an ice sword or polearm.
Looking around, I saw that the area had been cleared. I decided to wait until the late evening to report back to the Adventurer's Guild, just incase any lone hilichurls decided to enter the area.
Just then, a searing pain grasped me. My skin felt too small, my chest felt tight and my heart felt as if it was growing at twice the speed my ribcage seemed to be shrinking. It was painful enough that I wanted to rip my hair out. Immediately, I knew what it was.
My fortnightly nightmare.
After that vulgar demon possessed me, I would spend one night each fortnight, sitting away from the world, trying my hardest not to spill innocent blood. I guess this was its way of punishing me, making me want to kill the people I live to save. I hated it.
I whirled around frantically, looking for somewhere to shelter. I couldn't stand knowing that I was out in the world and uncontrollable for an entire night. I might come across an innocent bystander and then... who knows...
Thankfully, there was a small rundown shack just peeking out of the trees. Entering it, I saw it was... just a bit... messy...
The main beams on the ceiling were mostly broken, rotting and chipped. Holes filled the ceiling, giving anyone inside a clear shot of the tree-filled sky. The rest of the place was okay, save for a working door.
I settled down in a far corner in a comfortable position, freezing my feet to the floor, more for my own reassurance than safety.

After a few hours, I heard a few footsteps near the entrance to the shack.
I was seeing red at this point, my lungs aching for the stench of blood, my head dizzy and folding in on itself, but my last ounces of sanity screamed at me to hide. To try and do all I could to make sure whoever it was didn't get hurt.
A figure made their way into the building, gazing at me with cold yet curious eyes. He was a male and looked around the same height as me. He had dark green hair with lighter teal highlights, his front bangs, falling longer than the rest of his hair. He wore a white sleeveless top with black and gold detailing. His hands were covered in black and teal gloves, both slightly different. His trousers were navy blue with beige and gold details and were tucked into a pair of black boots. They looked expensive, in fact the whole guy looked expensive. Well, not really expensive, more like elegant. A pale purple fixture hung from his waist (idk what it's called) and attached to his waistband hung a mask which looked similar to a Nuo mask. A green, jade-like looking spear was clutched in his hand.
The man looked at me, his amber eyes boring into mine. His gaze was so cold, it seemed as if it could even freeze the ice around my legs more than it was already frozen.
"You... seem to be-" he took a step forward.
"DON'T!" I screamed, my voice hoarse, "I-I'm not in the right mind now. Please sir, I cannot afford to injure an innocent human. Please leave me be and carry on, I will be fine."
A sudden pain stabbed at my temple and I lurched over, clutching my face with both hands.
He seemed concerned, "You need help miss-"
I swatted away his outstretching hand, "I said to leave me!"
He advanced further and I had had enough. I pulled my legs free from the ice and ran oout the building, ignoring his calls to return.
Glancing over my shoulder, he was nowhere to be seen.

[Xiao's POV]
From the cliff I was stood on, I observed the person running away. They seemed normal enough, yet their aura felt cold, dead, pained. Inhuman. This was someone I needed to keep and eye on.
I disappeared.
