Chapter 5

Me and Lloyd were trapped now in a strong, almost unbreakable Bamboo cage.
I finally decided to break the silence. "So what's with this Oni thing?", I asked quietly.

Lloyd narrowed his eyes. "What?" I pointed at the eyes. "Your eye color changes if your Oni side is rising."

"Ah yeah.", Lloyd scoffed. "It's just, my father has Oni blood.", he explained. "Not really interesting, is it?"

I looked at him. "Actually it is kind of interesting. It's like a second personality, like how cool is that?", I answered, trying to comfort him.

I actually never expected to talk to Lloyd like this.

But it seemed to work, as I sensed that Lloyd got calmer. "Thanks Y/N."

I nodded. I felt a sting in my arm. "Ouch!", I yapped, as I turned around and I saw a warrior poking me with his blade. "Both of you shut up.", he warned.

I gritted my teeth. "Or what?", I snapped back. Lloyd laid his hand on my shoulder. "Y/N don't make it worse.", he suggested.

The serpentine warrior hissed, "Tell that little tree-lady to shut her little cheeky mouth."

And again, Lloyd's eyes flashed up purple. "Do not make me want to end your life.", Lloyd threatened.

As the warrior hissed with an annoyed tone, he stopped yapping.

Lloyd sighed, his eyes locking with mine. "It happened again didn't it?", he asked, as he rubbed his eyes. I nodded.

He let out a sigh. "I don't know what's happening.", he answered. "I accept you the way you are.", I said, him giving me a small smile.

"I appreciate that.", he replied.

I checked the area, where the soldiers are taking us. It seemed like a small basement, a part of the new serpentine territory.

"Lloyd, I have a plan.", I whispered in his ear.
Lloyd frowned. "Well, go ahead."

"We need to break out of this bamboo cage, I could try to control it but I need alot of energy with these.", I pointed at the bamboo.

Lloyd scoffed. "You gotta be kidding me. It's just bamboo."

I punched him. "Not just bamboo you jerk! It's an own kind of bamboo. It is hard to break through.", I explained.

Lloyd's gaze got more serious. More understanding. "I get it. And I suppose you need my energy power to help you breaking these?", he asked skeptically.

I nodded. "Well yeah."
Lloyd reached out his hands. "Take it.", he ordered. "Take as much as you need from my power."

I got up, slightly flinching by his reaction. "Woah, I thought you aren't trusting me?", I stammered.

Lloyd sighed. "Well uhm, I can explain someday but now focus."

His voice was serious, slowly making my heart race for whatever reason.

Now I concentrated. I took his hands and I could feel him activating his elemental power, slowly connecting with my power.

Somehow Lloyd's power was strong and pressuring but it was good to feel it. To feel him.

As I managed to control the bamboo, it broke into small pieces. Me and Lloyd leaped out quickly, as the soldiers were coming to defend their territory.

"Ready to beat them up?", I asked Lloyd. "Born ready, sweetheart.", he answered proudly, ready to fight.

The nickname he gave me somehow created butterflies in my stomach.

While fighting and beating our enemies up, I got hit badly in the chest. I fell to the ground as the serpentine warrior stabbed his blade right trough my arm.

I screamed and created thorn vines to tie him.

The warrior yelled because of the vines. Lloyd noticed that I got injured.

Suddenly the floor was shaking and a strong energy source surrounded Lloyd's aura.

I watched how he has grown into his oni form, attacking the serpentine warrior, who injured me.

"How dare you to hurt her?", he roared at him.
The duel was agile and skilled. Lloyd managed to beat the enemy and they took their run.

I managed to rip the blade out of my arm, already feeling that the wound was starting to heal.

My blood is different since I got one with nature, I can easily heal.

Lloyd grunted, and looked at me. "Are you alright?", he asked, in his half-way oni form now.

I hid my wound from him. "Yes I am.", I lied.

I did not want to become weak. Lloyd narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure?", he asked again.

"Yes."

I don't know why, but I feel like if I told the truth he would laugh about it.
Just like everyone did if I got hurt or injured, since I am usually that strong nature master, who should never allow injuries, because it's weak.

Just weak.
