"Reverie!" My dad calls from downstairs. "You're going to be late!"
I roll over and look at my alarm clock. 7:25am.
"I still have five more minutes!" I call back down.
"No, you don't! I told you I was picking up Shinso last night remember?"
Ughh. Shit balls.

Well, this is awkward. Here we all are. Me, my two dads, and purple hair boy going to school. And while usually my dad (little known superhero Present Mic) would be yapping our ears off. Purple boy has thrown a wrench in the normalcy.
"Soo.. how come we have to pick up Shinso today?"
My father raised an eyebrow at me through the rearview mirror. He glanced at Shinso.
"Shinso usually rides his bike to school. He can't do that with the state his arm is in. So I offered to lend a ride."
"Hm," I pause. "You would never let me ride my bike to school."
"Well, you never know who could be out there, Reverie. You have some pretty famous parents."
I sigh. The same old song. My dad, particularly Aizawa, my biological father, has always been overprotective of me. When I was a baby, some pretty nasty villains kidnapped and killed my mother. But I don't remember much of her. It's always just been him and Mic. But my father has never let me out of his sight. Not for long anyway.
"Well, Mr. famous parent. Maybe I would've enjoyed getting to, I don't know, spend time with other kids my age. Maybe if I would've been able to ride my bike to class I would've been able to make more friends." Or any friends, for that matter. The same old fight.
I look over at Shinso. He looks like he wants to pass away.
"Sorry," I whisper. He gives me a meek smile and looks out the window. There goes another chance at making a friend. Whatever. Nothing I'm not used to.
We pull up to the school and all four of us get out of the car. My father stops me before I can walk to class.
"Reverie," He sighs. "I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry Dad. I shouldn't have yelled." I glance at Shinso. "Especially not in front of your student."
He pulls me into a tight hug. "It's okay. Have a good day hon."
"Bye Dad." I wave him bye and begin walking. And this is awkward. Because obviously Shinso and I are walking to the same department. And I just made a fool out of myself in the car.
He surprises me by speaking first. "Sorry if I was- intruding any." He looks uncomfortable.
I laugh. "There was no way you could've avoided it. No, I'm sorry that was uncomfortable. It's just frustrating, you know? He's always babying me. I know it's out of love. But it's hard."
Shinso smiles at me. But his eyes are sorta.. sad? "I wish my dad was like yours. He's so busy all the time. I don't think he cares at all."
"Dr. Shinso? But he seems so nice?" I say.
"Well, ya. He is so dedicated to his work. And that's wonderful but.. I guess I wish.." He trails off.
"No, ya I getcha," I say. I give him a short smile. We approach the doors to the classroom and slow down. This is the first time in a long time I've held a conversation, an actually interesting one at that, I want to keep talking.
"Excited for this test?" I ask. He laughs at me and looks me in the eyes. I've never had someone look at me like that before. Like they genuinely enjoyed my company. And they weren't scared of me. He opens the door to the class room.
"Hell no."
