Finally, the class was dismissed by Koro-Sensei and he rushed off to lord knows where. I sat still as my peers packed their things and made their way out. Most of them proceeded to keep gossiping and talking about me. I was just lucky they decided to leave me alone for now.

I decided to stay behind. The quiet stillness was something I wanted to stay in for a bit. The sky was painted orange while the sun shone through the window. There were no voices, no lessons, and no questions. It was a very enjoyable quiet. I took in a relaxing deep breath, finally being able to breathe for once in the hours I've been here. These people felt suffocating.

The peace I had was short-lived, though. A particular classmate of mine stayed in the classroom with me. He made it just a bit less empty. It was the same boy who sat next to my desk, the one who made a rude comment about me right before I sat down. I wasn't sure of his intentions, but it might just be annoying me out of existence.

He made so many comments, so much teasing, and even more questions. I never expected the boy I sat next to would be so talkative. He looked like he would keep to himself more, but the current situation showed otherwise. After what he said, I wouldn't have expected him to speak to me at all. Yet here we are.

"Why'd you transfer so suddenly? Where out of town are you from? Are you perhaps an assassin? Or maybe you're a lab rat with special abilities to fight our teacher! Is that your real name? Are you not from the main building?"

I didn't answer any of them. They just kept coming at me.

"Are you not going to answer me? Why won't you show any emotion? Come on, I know this must be getting annoying," he continued.

I sighed before finally speaking, "Yes, Phoenix Oceana is my real name."

I tried not to show my irritation, but I at least answered one of his questions. Then the boy introduced himself, "Well then, pleased to meet you, Phoenix. I'm Karma."

That was an interesting name. Then again, I don't even know why my name is the one it is.

"It'd be nice if you could at least look at me when I speak to you," Karma said.

A sigh left my lips before I turned to look at him. But once I did, I started wishing I didn't. When we made eye contact, something inside of me ignited. A warmth that felt extremely unfamiliar filled my cold body. I don't think I could explain the feeling even if I tried.

Karma spoke once he saw my expression but his voice trailed off, "What? Am I that handsome..."

I stood up and acted on impulse, I reached out and held his hand. His eyes drifted from my face to our hands and back to my face. I trailed my eyes from our hands back to his eyes as well. He slightly parted his mouth as if to speak but nothing came out. He accepted this.

I got closer to him and intertwined our fingers, letting myself enjoy the warmth that came from his hand. My other hand then reached out and caressed his cheek. He showed no signs of telling me to stop. He never said anything or showed any emotion at all. He was frozen in place.

His face was surprisingly soft, and my hand gently held his cheek. I leaned a bit closer and he took in a shocked breath while he leaned away. Suddenly he seemed almost frustrated with himself and leaned toward me. As if he put on a mask, his face held a cheeky smirk.

He tightened his hold on my hand and leaned toward my face, "What are you playing at?~"

Slowly I inched my way toward his face. He felt so warm, and it was radiating off his body. The lighting made it all seem so friendly and inviting. I stared into his eyes. I took one last look before closing my eyes. Then I placed my lips on his. They were so warm and soft. It felt like time had stopped.
