Revamp in progress :)
Vision blurry. Leaves crunching before her feet. Consciousness was seeping back with every breath. No memories. This is fine. Everything will be fine. At least, she wanted to convince herself it will be.
Once her vision sharpened, she took in the surroundings. Upward hill with plenty of nature—nothing else notable besides the path she was already following. Every step was sending subtle vibrations and tingled her senses. The concept of understanding anything was not being fully grasped until each breath was a reminder she was real. Okay, one at a time.
Where?...
When?...
How?...
Why?... Why?... kill...
Kill?
Then, her body took in a sharp breath. She was in the passenger seat. The feeling of living flooded her. It was as though the realization allowed her to exist. Kill?... What did that even mean?
She felt suffocated from the lack of... everything. The feeling of the clothes clinging to as if they didn't belong to her. The weight of a bag on her shoulders feeling heavier than it should. Just breathe.
The fuzziness cleared up when she felt her body stop moving. Cognitive function finally returning when blinking and breathing became less manual and more natural. Now, why did she stop?
There was a building. The sun was out and it beamed down onto a field surrounded by a forest. Taking in one deep breath, she noticed she stopped right at the edge of the forest. Instinctively, she grabbed at her neck and loosened the tie. The view would be been peaceful if not for the throbbing urge to move. Her heart beat against her ribcage as if being still was wrong.
Breaking through the treeline, she took in her surroundings properly. There was a messy dirt path that winded its way to the entrance of the old school building. The whole area is overgrown and unkept. Clearly, no one was properly taking care of the place, especially since the assumed school building looked abandoned. At least that's what would have assumed if not for the faint voices echoing inside.
With another breath, her feet moved against her will. Her body drew her to the building as if it were a habit—as if it were right. Anxiety began biting at the edges of her mind. Her breath catching at her throat but was forced to breathe through it anyway.
Getting closer to the building, each and every flaw became visible. The splitting and rotting wood. Overgrown vines and tainted windows. A roof that was barely holding together, just like her. Breathe.
In the blink of an eye, she already breached the entrance. Her hand gripped a little tighter on the door before shutting it closed as if it could ground her. It didn't. Much to her surprise, the rundown building seemed clean. It was spacious. Home to many more roomed than anticipated.
It was as if the very thought to observe more triggered something. Even faster than before, her body led her to a specific room. An immediate change in scenery.
Finally, her body halted all movement. Immediately, she knew she was on her own now. Muffled voices rang out past the door she stopped at. At first, she wanted to run. That was until her hand came up and she braced herself to open the door. Only, she ended up pausing when it moved a smidge. The small crack allowed her to peek inside to what she worried would be what her life was falling into.
Then she saw him. A creature. Yellow and octopus-like. Hesitation immediately made her body stiffen. With the single glance, she was hit with something nauseating. Information—too much for her to handle and too fast for her to proceed.
