The 19th century witnessed several key developments that paved the way for modern guns.

In 1815, Joshua Shaw introduced percussion caps, a significant innovation that replaced the flintlock trigger system. These percussion caps improved the reliability of firearms, enabling them to function effectively in various weather conditions.

By 1835, Casimir Lefaucheux made a groundbreaking contribution with the invention of the first practical breech-loading firearm featuring a cartridge. This innovative cartridge included a conical bullet, a cardboard powder tube, and a copper base with a primer pellet. This development marked a crucial step towards the design of modern firearms.
