In the shadows of a dark narrow alleyway, two small shapes huddle together for warmth underneath a broken, rotting table waiting for the constant pitter-patter of the rain to finally cease.
The bigger of the two, a girl no more than the age of 8, held the smaller, tinier figure close to her stomach. It mewled pitifully and nudged the girl with its head.
'You look sad.' is what the black kitten said to the girl.
"I'm not sad, just cold." The girl replied.
Of course, since a cat is a cat and a girl is a girl, they could not and would not be able to understand the other. But since this takes place in where miracles such as reviving someone from the brink of death or turning into a tiger was normal and not in our world that will soon be corrupted by the foolish mistakes of humanity, one such as yourself should be able to conclude that the girl must have the ability to speak and hear the words of animals.
Which would be absolutely correct.
Not only could this child speak and listen to animals, but she is also able to turn into an animal she has recently touched for a maximum of an hour.
However even with this ability, she cannot just instantly befriend any animal like in those old Disney movies because this is reality and not a movie.
