The Trucker

Chapter one

I walk up to the new truck. It was blue with flames, beautiful. I put the pet seat in the passenger side. Men start hooking up my trailer, and I get Thunder and the things I need. After awhile I'm ready to hit the road,Thunder chinning everything in sight. I roll my eyes at him, "That's enough you lil demon." I tease he thumped at me lightly "don't give me sass!" I say in a no nonsense tone. He lays down, knowing arguing isn't worth it. The men look at me funny "what? Never seen a mom talk to her son?" I joke at them. This earns some chuckles from them. After they finish checking everything I'm good to go. I climb in and start to drive off.

      When I'm finally on the highway, I get into traffic. I sigh, but some motion catches my eye, there is a little girl waving at me frantically, I hold Thunder to the window and wave his paw at her. I can almost hear her excitement. She pulls her hand, asking me to toot. I hold up a finger and put Thunder down, as the traffic starts to move she looks sad, but her expression quickly changes when i pull the horn in a 'toot' 'toot'. I smile at how excited she was, a guy in front and on the side flipped me the bird. It was worth her smile. "Thunder, no matter the consequences, always be kind. It's always worth it." Thunder came over and gave me a kiss, showing he would. I sip my mt.dew, and Thunder nibbles some lettuce I gave him.

     It was already night, but I'm not tired, or that's what I tell myself. I yawn, and I know it's time to stop for the night. As I drive I look for a rest stop and eventually find one. After pulling in and getting the blankets out, I pass out, it had been a long day.

Optimus pov:

      The human falls asleep after pulling my alt into what they call a rest stop. I think it is safe to fall into recharge for a little while myself.

Sophia pov:

         Thunder wakes me up at around five by biting my side, not enough to bleed, but just enough to hurt. I groan at him, he just starts digging on my side to wake me up further. "Okay! Okay! I'm up!" I say in defeat, I leave the truck and grab Thunder as we head into the small building. I wash my face in the sink, go to the bathroom, wash my hair in the shower provided, then eat a protein bar as Thunder munched on pellets. I let him run around the grass, he himself takes a pee, and then binkies everywhere. "Okay time to go buba boi!" I call to him, he runs over, invigorated by his little run. Just as I'm about to head to the truck, I feel a pull at my sleeve, it was the little lass from earlier! "Hello, how are you doing?" I crouched down to her level as I gave her a kind smile. "Thank you for tooting your horn for me! I am good, we are visiting family!" I smile bigger at her. She starts to pet Thunder, and he lets her. Her mom runs over "I'm so sorry, Anna! Stop bothering her!" I chuckle "it's all good, I'm Sophia by the way, people always say 'stranger danger' so let's not be strangers." I say kindly the mom smiles in relief as she shakes my hand "nice to meet you miss?" I ask "Lennox." I smile bigger "miss Lennox." I finish "I have a sister who loves kids, so I'm kinda used to this stuff, and Thunder can use the practice with people." I look down at the park who is now running around playing. We both smile as we watch. "Anna! Let's not keep your dad waiting!" Her mom calls, and Anna walks over glumly. Thunder nudged her leg, making her laugh. I smile "here's my number, maybe they can play again sometime, if that's okay." I say to her, understanding if she doesn't want to. She smiled big "of course! Thank you for being so kind to her, I saw what the other drivers did after..." she trailed "pshaw. I've had worse happen." I showed her my arm, she gasped and took a step back. "That's how I got Thunder, got him from a bad situation. My arm is proof." I growl at the memory of those horrible people, who would hurt an innocent little bunny? Sure he was ornery, but that doesn't mean you kick him. Thunder, sensing my stress ran over and nudged me. "Now he helps me as my esa." I smiled picking up the booger. Mrs Lennox smiled at us. "Okay, time to go!" She called again to Anna who was trying to sneak away to the playground. "Wait, here." I give her a little baggie. She took it curiously, and when she opened it her eyes widened. It was a mini Thunder I had crocheted and a little button as well that had a big heart on it. "Thank you!!" She ran over and gave me a big hug I laughed at her. "You're welcome, thank you for being my friend!" I saw hugging her back. Her mom smiled at the scene.

     I felt happy as I opened the doors of the car. I saw I missed a call from mom. I FaceTime her back and put it on the phone holder I have on the dash. "Hello?" She asked "hey! Sorry I missed your call, I made a new little friend." I explained mom looks excited "wonderful, how did you do it?" She asked "well I didn't really have to do much, she is so cute, she loved playing with Thunder and get this," I pause, because a car passed me on the highway. "She asked me to toot for her!" I say happily, it always makes my day when kids do that. "Aww that's so sweet. I'm happy for you, you're doing great. We love you." I smile at her words. "I love you so much mom, and Thunder says hi." I take one hand and tilt the phone to the sleeping bunny. "Lazy brat." She comments. I chuckled turning the phone back to me "yep, but he let the girl pull his ears a little, I had to explain that it hurts, and she hugged him apologizing frantically it was heart melting." I say to mom. "Well, I'll let you drive sweetheart, we love you. Be safe." I smiled at her "I'm a roach mom, can't kill me!" I say jokingly and she laughs "by honey." She hung up and my smile slowly faded. I rub my nose bridge, "it's fine, I'm fine." I ended up saying out loud. I shake my head, trying to get the feeling to go away.
