When he saw her from a distance,he couldn't speak.
He was…
Enamored. Mesmerized. Entranced.
By her beauty, not just by her beauty but by her personality too,it somehow made him happy.
“Hi..” he remembers saying, still thinking that was the wrong approach.
And here he was trying to match Jake with Julie because the ‘Queen’ said so.
Well,he was at her service. She was using it as an opportunity to make up with him and it made him happy, cause it's been a while someone had ever helped him that way. So he really appreciated it. Because back home his feelings were always shoved away and that was how he healed.
Iris knew Jake for almost as long as she knew Julie.
Jake was more of an introvert,he was pretty cool with it though. He was top in the business department and he seemed innocent. Although he was an introvert, approaching him had always been nice because he was funny. Julie had always liked him for his sympathy, jokes, personality and looks. He had long eyelashes even as a guy and it suited him,he was muscular with a simple build having just blonde hair and ocean eyes, His physique spelled out cool dude ...why were there so many good looking guys in her life?
Julie stayed around him often, and who knows if he also had a ‘thing’ for her,but she wasn't here now so they had a chance.
In an empty class, Iris figures Jake reading by a corner.
“Hey Jake.” she calls as he smiles and approaches them.
“Hi Iris,it's been a while.” He says.
“I know, How're you?" She asks, trying her best to bring up ideas.
“I’m good,you?”
“Okay, why're you two talking like there's an author writing all what you're saying right now in an English textbook?” Xavier had to butt in, making Jake laugh.
“She has always been that way, right,Ms. Formal.” He winks, making his mouth move with the wink.
“I’ll make the move." Xavier whispers to Iris and she nods her head with trust.
“So Jake, how's your Valentine's day going?”
“Uhh…honestly,I'm with..no one today.” He says, sighing looking down.
“Is there anyone you'd like to be with?” Xavier puts a hand on his shoulder.
“Maybe.. uhm.. Julie.." He says and his face flushed, causing Iris eyes to widen and Xavier to smile.
“Jake, you could have said something earlier, like come on we're friends.” Iris says using her hands to point at herself and him.
“I’ve been a Coward.” He looks down again.
“It's too hard to stand up to a beauty like her, that's why I help her with her problems cause I feel that's the best I could do. Just being a shoulder to cry on… for her”
“No you haven't been a coward, it's something normal that’s always bound to happen with someone you really care about.” Xavier looks at Iris who has fallen into a frenzy, and then back at Jake.
“Although it may seem hard and difficult at first but when you express that huge burden you wouldn't be scared of expectations you'd receive anymore, you'd only get stronger and go on with life again… with or without the person.” He smiles and taps Jake's back and then Jake smiles at him.
“So what'd you say about meeting her like right now?” Iris asks ecstatically.
“You two couples are the best.” Jake says drawing the two of them for a hug.
