It's the day of the spring fling. Cady is grounded so she's not allowed to attend the dance, I don't even think she wanted to go in the first place. Everyone in school hates her guts after she allegedly pushed Regina in front of a bus.
She didn't. I told her that I knew the whole story.
But I've been staying at Regina's house for the past two days to help her mom out, so I haven't really seen Cady in a while.
"Aw girls! You look gorgeous!" June George cheers us on as the photographer takes photos of me and Regina.
She's wearing a blue dress with cutouts, she looks breath taking even though she has to wear her headgear. I'm wearing a blue corset top to match Regina with a suit jacket and slacks.
"Alright my turn!" June jumps into the frame, causing me to laugh. Regina groans.
Before we left, Regina took a bunch of painkillers. A little too much because now she's a bit woozy.
"Feeling okay, baby?" I ask her in a sweet tone as I fix her hair.
Regina nods, "I'm gonna go use the restroom before they announce the king and queen."
"Want me to go with you?" I ask.
"No, no it's okay. Go hang out with your friends, I won't be long." She smiles at me before walking away.
I go over to Janis and Damien who look amazing tonight. "Hey guys!"
"Hey, how's she holding up?" Janis asks in worry as she holds her girlfriend, Natalie, by her hip.
"She's good, just in pain." They nod in understanding. "How are you all enjoying the dance?"
"It's fun!" Natalie says with a smile, "I'm gonna go grab a drink." She says to Janis who waves her off.
"Uh oh, here comes trouble." Damien points to the entrance. I sigh when the Mathletes enter the gymnasium, Cady with them. "I thought she was grounded?"
"That's what I thought too." I watch from afar as she makes her way into the bathroom where Regina is.
I'm about to follow her but Janis grabs my wrist, "I get that you're protective over Regina but you don't want to be overbearing."
I sigh and nod, "You're right."
Ten minutes later, Regina is back. She's sitting down at a table and I'm standing beside her, she just leans against me. The poor girl is exhausted but she keeps telling me that she wants to wait to see who wins King and Queen.
"Alright everyone, can we have our nominees come up to the stage please?" Principal Duvall says into the microphone. I help Regina up onto stage then kiss the top of her head. "Okay, we have Lily Smith! Fiona St.Claire! and Regina George!"
Everyone cheers for the nominees. "And our King nominees are.. Shane O'man! Aaron Samuels! and.. Jackson Black!"
"Our spring fling king is... Shane O'man!" Everyone cheers. Of course he wins. "And our spring fling queen is.. Cady Heron..?"
Everyone looks around in confusion. Cady slowly makes her way onto the stage and goes up to the microphone, "Um.. hi everyone."
"You know it's not really required to make a speech." Principal Duvall quickly cuts in as Cady begins rambling but she just waves him off with an "Im almost done."
Then she snaps the crown in half and Damien has a full body reaction to the sound of the plastic breaking. Janis sniffles her laughter. Cady begins tossing pieces of the crown to the runner ups on the stage, my girlfriend doesn't catch her piece but she still looks just as happy as everyone else, if not happier due to the drugs in her system.
Now Cady throws pieces of it into the crowd, I catch a piece and so does Janis. Even a few boys get excited to catch pieces of the crown.
When she gets off of the stage, I give her a tight hug. "That was cute, Cady."
"I tried." She pulls away from our hug and smiles at Regina who stands beside me. "How are you feeling?"
"Dizzy.. but good. I like you, Cady. You can be really sweet when you want to be." She blinks a few times to refocus herself. "But don't feel too special, these painkillers make me like everyone."
I smirk and nod, "Oh yeah. On the way here she kept saying how much she loves me, it was the cutest thing." I squeeze Regina's hip.
"Regina George showing public affection, I never thought I'd see the day." Cady beams happily, playfully teasing Regina who probably hasn't heard a word we said because when I look at her, her eyes are closed.
"Want to go sit down, baby?" I ask as I begin guiding her towards our table, Regina nods.
Janis later joined us at our table. Regina became very clingy towards Janis, repeating how much she missed being her friend. Janis just pats her head awkwardly and helps Regina with her drinks. It's cute.
"Elle," Regina grasps my shoulder and gives me a cheesy smile, "You look so gorgeous right now.. so I think you should really give me a kiss.."
I grin and kiss my two fingers then press them to her lips. "I'd love to kiss you but it's hard with your headgear, baby." Regina pouts at my statement.
"Oh come on, give her a little kiss." Janis nudges me.
I laugh a bit and tilt my head at an angle to place a soft kiss on Regina's lips. When I pull away, I see her grinning with her eyes still closed.
"Maybe I should take you home-" I offer as the dance slowly comes to an end.
"No, I want to stay.." Regina says with a yawn. I grab her hand and her purse before saying goodbye to Janis, Natalie, and Damien. Cady follows us out and into the car to drive us home.
"Are you staying with her tonight or coming home?" Cady asks as she drives.
"Regina, what do you think?" I look over at her. Her eyes were closed as she started dozing off but my question wakes her up.
"I'd like for you to stay but.. you can go home if you want." She answers quietly.
I look back at Cady, "I'll stay at her house tonight, tell mom I'll be home in the morning."
"Got it, have fun."
I help Regina out of the car and into the house. June greets us and asks about the dance, I answer all of her questions since Regina doesn't even remember what happened 2 minutes ago due to her heavy dose of medication.
"Well goodnight girls!" June says and kisses the top of Regina's head.
"Goodnight, Mrs.George."
