The Last Raindrop

I am the last raindrop in the sky
The others have fallen, leaving me high
I see the earth below me, wet and green
The flowers, the trees, the rivers, the sea

I wonder where I belong in this world
Should I join the ocean or the soil?
Should I nourish the plants or the animals?
Should I evaporate or freeze?

But then I feel a gentle breeze
Carrying me to a distant place
I land on a window and see a face
A child who is sad and lonely

He sees me and his eyes light up
He touches me and I feel his warmth
He smiles and thanks me for being there
He makes me feel like I matter

I realize that I have a destiny
To bring some comfort and joy to this child
I am the last raindrop in the sky
But I am not lost, I am alive
