Scarecrow's P.O.V

I held the final piece in my hand, staring at the nearly rebuilt machine. It has taken almost a year so far, which was only a few hours in Dorothy's time. We had only actually gotten started, started on the project near the end of last year so it's been about 2 years in our time since Dorothy was last here. "Go ahead. Put the final piece in." Tin Man said, followed up by clanking metal, most likely from him making a gesture. I turned around facing Lion and Tin Man, "Thank you for all your help. Thank you both." I said, smiling widely.

"Hey, it was no problem, bud. Now hurry up and put that last piece into place! You're not the only one who wants to see Dorothy again!" Lion replied, flashing me a large, toothy smile.

"No but I want to see her more than you do." I replied light heartedly, turning to put the last piece into place. Ever since Dorothy left I have ended up being much more open about my feelings for the Kansas girl. Well, to Lion and Tin Man at least, everyone else only has the feeling that I have feelings for her. It's only my two closest friends that know for certain.

"There. It's all done." I said, taking a few steps back so I was standing between Lion and Tin Man.

"Well what are we waiting for?" Lion exclaimed, taking a step forward and looking at Tin Man and I.

"Let's get Dorothy back!" Tin Man exclaimed this time, my reaction being to whip around to face him. I just smiled before darting up to the machine, immediately going through and starting to move all the levers around, pressing a button occasionally. I looked from side to side, noticing that Tin Man and Lion were both on each side of me. "Scarecrow to Dorothy! Come in Dorothy!" I called into the microphone. An image showed up on the screen and I saw that Dorothy was asleep, on the floor of the rainbow. Toto was next to her, barking furiously at the screen. "Hehehe. Sorry Toto." I apologized, laughing awkwardly. The little dog snorted before crouching down next to Dorothy, leaning down and yipping in her face, most likely trying to wake her up. "Toto that isn't really necessary. You don't have to wake her up for us." Lion said. Too late. I thought as I saw Dorothy slowly waking up, her eyes twitching as she opened them. She then opened her eyes fully before immediately snapping them shut again, the light and swirling colors probably hurting them. I laughed lightly before saying, "Mornin' kiddo! Have a nice nap?" She sat up some and looked around before spotting us.

"Shoulda known it was you, Scarecrow." She muttered sleepily, still waking up. I couldn't wipe the smile I had off my face, she was so adorable. "Oh gee. You work the hardest out of all of us for a year and that's what you get?" Lion muttered in my ear, making sure the microphone didn't pick up what he said.

"Keep in mind she is only half asleep and this is the third time she has been swept across worlds in a rainbow in her time, a few hours." I replied in the same volume Lion, turning to face him as I spoke.

"True you do have a point there." Lion said while I turned back to the controls since I had to make sure Dorothy landed right outside of Emerald City. "You two," I said to Tin Man and Lion, "Go outside the city gates and meet Dorothy there. I'll catch up as soon as I can." I finished, all while paying attention to the screens, multiple equations and calculations running through my head. I had to make sure that Dorothy landed safely just outside of Emerald City. I heard footsteps and the door open and close. "Dorothy?" I said, while moving the controls around.

"Yeah?" She responded. I quickly glanced at her, seeing that she had finally stood up all the way and was facing me.

"I'm going to need to be prepared for the worst alright?" I said, looking at a different screen which was showing me the surroundings outside of the rainbow.

"Why will I need to be prepared?" She asked somewhat nervously, hints of uncertainty and fear showing in her voice.

"Because, you remember how you landed last time?"

"Yeah, how come?"

"Well it was sheer luck that you landed so smoothly. This time I'm in control of the landing and, well. This is my first time landing so I'm figuring things out as I'm going." I admitted, momentarily turning to her to flash her a guilty smile.

"Well, I trust you." These few words made my heart flutter. "But if I crash I'm blaming you." She finished, which completely killed the mood for me. I just laughed and replied with, "As you should since I'm in control."
