The trio ran outside, and as soon as the sunlight hit Lloyd's face, he and Zane summoned their dragons, Wu hitching a ride with his nephew.
Sensei Wu directed Lloyd as the Green Ninja flew his green dragon across the city, over the outskirts and towards Dragon mountain.
Though called it, the mountain had nothing to do with dragons, other than when back in Ninjago's early days, the first miners had come across a cave that, when the wind blew in a certain way, would create a monstrous sound that kept all people from it's insides for more than a century.
Later it became the entrance to a large hallow cavern where the skeleton army Garmadon created had resided. All that was left deep in the cave was the remants of war; bones, rusted armor, broken weapons, the deaden feeling of loss and nothing.
Wu pointed out the entrance to Lloyd, and told his nephew to land there.
The teenager nodded, angling his dragon into a downward spiral, Zane following right behind.
Just as they were landing, a white figure emerged from the tunnel, a horse tagging along behind on a lead.
A young girl with a traditional cone hat, just like Sensei's, approached him, it was bowed low, and had white sheets hanging down all round it. The young woman wore robes covering every inch of her skin.
The hat lifted high enough for black refulgent eyes to meet his. A white cloth hid her lower face from sight, but he could tell from her eyes, that she was grimacing from pain. Her hair was black-brown, and jaw length, singed and knotted. There were bags under her eyes and her skin looked grey. She was shaking and her eyes were dazed, pain filled.
This could not be his Aunt Misami, she was too young.
"Onyx," Lloyd breathed. What had happened to her? Lloyd took the horse lead from Onyx's hands.
"Lloyd?" She asked softly, her voice raspy.
Wu was right behind Lloyd. "Onyx," He didn't touch her, but held out his hands, as if to catch her should she fall. "Where's your Aunt?"
"I don't know,"
"Zane!" Wu didn't need to call the Ice Ninja over, as he appeared by their sides in seconds.
"Quick, summon the dragons."
In a swirl of green and golden light, Lloyd summoned his, as did Zane in a flurry of white and grey.
Wu said nothing as he helped the girl onto the ice dragon. As soon as she was sitting in front of Zane, she slumped forward, all her energy gone. The ice ninja quickly wrapping his arms around Onyx to keep her from sliding off.
"Lloyd, leave the horse here, we'll come back later for it,"
Quickly the boy secured the leash to a tree, gave it a tug, and ran back to the others.
Lloyd and Wu again rode together, leading the way to the monastery as the Ice Dragon trailed behind, followed by the whinny of the horse as it cried out, not knowing why it was being left behind, why it's person was leaving without it.
Jay flicked some water at Nya, chuckling.
"Think it's cold enough?"
Nya giggled, wiping the cold droplets from her face. She swirled her hand in the cool water. "Yeah, I don't want to end up freezing the new girl." Nya's expression lit up. "I'm so excited to have another girl around here!"
Jay rolled his eyes. "Just remember to find some time for me too, ya know?" He leaned over and kissed Nya on the nose. She smiled, blushing a bit. Standing up, she pulled Jay up with her. "Come on, let's see if they're back yet."
