Your pov
You smiled down at your phone seeing a notification from your boyfriend Niall pop down on the screen, you opened the text and it read "I'm on my way love , I'll be there in 5 x"
You smiled and quickly sprayed your favourite perfume and slipped your back high heels on. They really completed your outfit.
Niall was on his way to pick you up and take you out to dinner for Valentine's Day. You were so exited it's all you have been thinking about all week. You heard a knock on the door so you quickly grabbed your bag and jacket , yes it's February but the temperature in London is in the minuses the last few days.
You quickly made your way down the stairs and opened up the front door greeted by your boyfriend holding a big bouquet of your favourite white roses and a gift bag.
You smiled and invited him inside, you both made your way into the living room and he set the flowers down on the coffee table and embraced you in a tight warm hug kissing you on the lips as you pulled away.
You thanked him for the flowers as you noticed your boyfriends complexion. His face was pale and he had dark circles under his eyes and his nose was all red. You stopped for a moment and gave him a questionable look.
"You feeling alright love?" You asked him concern washing over you. He instantly nodded and insisted he was fine. Now that you noticed it , his voice sounded rather raspy and scratchy.
Oh let it go as it was Valentine's Day and he probably was exited to go out with you. You went and filled a vase with water and picked up your gifts that you had gotten for Niall and walked back into the living room.
You walked over to the couch Niall was sitting on and handed him his gifts. You had gotten him his favourite cologne, some of his favourite sweets and a gift voucher for the music shop.
He smiled and thanked you for all your gifts and he handed you the gift bag. You opened it and inside was the most beautiful pair of earrings you had ever seen.
You hugged Niall again feeling his body was rather warm. You kissed his forehead and your suspicions were confirmed as you felt the heat radiating from him.
"Are you sure your feeling ok Niall?" You asked again feeling rather worried about him. "I'm fine y/n I promise it's just a little cold I'll be fine" he answered his voice sounded raspy.
"Have you taken anything?" You questioned
"No I haven't but I don't need anything I'm fine" Niall insisted sniffling.
"If your sure darling we don't have to go out of your not up to it" you said
"I'm positive baby, besides it's Valentine's Day and we have reservations."
"If your sure then let's go or we will be late" you said exited putting in the new earrings Niall had gotten for you and grabbing your stuff.
"You look amazing darling" Niall said voice braking near the end. He stared at you with adoration in his eyes.
"You don't look to bad yourself" you smirked as he kissed your head and rapped his arm around you opening the car door for you.
You go in and he closed the door behind you.
He then got in the drivers seat and pulled out of the driveway.
The restaurant was about 30 minutes away and on the way there Niall kept sniffling. Until he broke out in a coughing fit. The coughs sounded chesty and harsh. Worry filled you as you put your hand on his back and rubbed up and down.
"That doesn't sound too good baby" you sympathised looking over at him with worry.
"Ah it's just a little cough" he croaked out not expecting his voice to sound the way it did.
He coughed again to try clear his Throat but it didn't work. "Baby can you grab a bottle of water on the back seat please" he rasped desperately trying to find away to sooth his throat.
You instantly leaned into the back and trapped a bottle and opened up the cap. You handed it to your boyfriend and he thanked you. He took a few sips and handed it back to you.
He coughed a few more times before sneezing.
"Excuse me" he breathed out.
"Bless you sweetheart" you said with worry in your eyes.
A few minutes later you noticed Niall zoned out a little and there was a bit of silence braking every now and then with the sound of Niall sniffling.
You looked over at him and noticed him squinting at the road Inhead of him. "Why are you squinting at the road Niall" you asked him feeling very concerned.
Niall sighed "To be honest I've got a bit of a headache darling and I'm really not feeling very well" he said feeling guilty for ruining the night.
"Oh baby I knew you weren't well let's just go home sweetheart." You said glad Niall finally admitting to his defeat.
"I don't want to ruin the night I know you were really looking forward to going out" Niall groaned. "Sweetheart it's fine your health is more important than a silly dinner" you try to comfort him.
"I know but it's valentines day princess , I wanted to make it special for you" he said feeling defeated.
"Niall look at me" you said . Niall turned to look at you as he was stopped by a traffic light.
"I know it's Valentine's Day but it's not your fault you are sick. Besides spending the day with you is all I wanted to do." You said
"I've got my valentine right beside me and that's all that matters to me. I'm the happiest and luckiest girl in the whole world as long as I've got you" you said grabbing his hand and rubbing your thumb up and down it in attempt to comfort him.
"I love you y/n" Niall said
"I love you too Niall, now turn this car around and let's get you home to bed" you insisted.
Niall sighed in defeat but the two of you headed for home.
When you got back to your place, you took your boyfriend upstairs and brought him to your bedroom. He took off his cloths leaving himself in just his boxers and he climbed into your bed.
You changed into your pyjamas and went downstairs to gather a few things . You got medicine, a thermometer, tissues and a bottle of water. You brought them back up to your boyfriend and sat at the edge of the bed beside him.
" how long have you been feeling sick?" You ask him putting your hand on his forehead. "Since this morning " niall croaked. You sighed as you took his temperature. The thermometer beeped and you looked at the numbers (103.3).
You signed " you've got quite a fever there darling, poor thing"
Niall just groaned in response.
"How's the head" You asked taking 2 pills out from the packet and opening a bottle of water for him.
"Killing me" he said taking the pills from you and thanking you. He swallowed them gratefully and had another coughing fit.
His body shook with each chesty cough that wracked out of his body.
You climbed into bed beside him and rubbed his back. When he was done he leaned into you and groaned. You ran your fingers through his hair and kissed his forehead.
"Close your eyes and try get some sleep my love" you whisperd and Niall hummed in response.
A few minutes later when Niall was almost asleep, he sat up and let out about 10 wet sneezes in the space of 30 seconds. He felt like a snotty mess. You grabbed a tissue for him and he blew his nose loudly. He used about 5 more tissues.
Another loud wet sneeze wracked his body luckily he had a tissue in his hand. "I feel so disgusting I'm so sorry" he groaned.
" you can't help it love" you said rubbing his bare back. He blew his nose again and leaned back into you groaning. " I think someone's caught a bad case of the flu" you said.
Niall sighed " my head is pounding" he hissed and buried it into your chest. " My poor pet" you whispered kissing his forehead feeling his relax in your touch. "Goodnight darling, happy Valentine's Day I love you" he whispered.
"Goodnight Niall I love you too" And with that Niall was fast asleep cuddled up in your arms soft snores coming from his congested nose.
