I was probably supposed to be happy that the only real friend I've ever had was back, but all I could think about was him.
Just look at him. LOOK AT HIM! How has he changed so much, when I haven't changed at all?And that was the honest truth. I was the same old me. And there wasn't much to see really: average face, some freckles, and long brown hair. I looked like just the typical 17 year old girl. Right?
Billie was just scanning the faces in the classroom looking shy and sweet. He's always been confident and loud, but not when meeting new people. Kinda like me. Which was another reason why I liked him so much.
What the hell am I thinking? I don't "like" him.And then, he met my gaze.
Oh crap! He recognizes me!
His whole expression shifted then. I've never experienced such an intense stare. It was a mixture of disbelief, relief, and well...sadness.When I looked out the window and broke the connection. I had realized that Mr. Roberts had been telling Billie to take his seat, but he was too busy staring at me!
He found his seat in the back next to Mike.
Oh great, what an influence.
Mike was a troublemaker. I had only talked to him a couple of times and he seemed cool, but not Billie's type of friend. Who knows, maybe he's changed. And like hell he has.
I didn't turn around to look at the clock all period because I was too scared I would make eye contact with Billie Joe again.
Why am I scared? He was my bestfriend. But now, he's like...that.Knew it had to be almost the end of class, and I was starting to get nervous.
Because I had no idea what would happen after class.
And just then the bell rang.
