I walk in and the girls were in the lobby, I hear a scream and then feel some arms around me. "You're here" she says and I hear the familiar voice, "hey Beth" I say and she pulls away just to pull me back in again. She pulls away and she drags me to sit with her, Georgia, Keira, Chloe and Lauren. "Where's Leah?" I ask Beth "Duties" she says "Alright" I say "How's dad?" She asks "Come on" I say and stand back up. I put my arm out and she grabs it, we walk into the hallway and I explain everything. I see Leah come out of sarinas office. "Hey" I say to her. "Hi" she says and looks at me then Beth. Then walks off. "Strange" I say, I finish talking to Beth before heading into sarinas office, "aah finally" she says and gives me a hug.
"I'm so glad your here, the girls are feeling a bit low"she says "How come?" I ask "Just missing their families" she says "Trust me, I'll try and raise their spirits" I say "Thank you" she says
We get on the coach, I sit with Chloe and Beth. We talk about everything. Everyone gets off the coach but when I do there is a loud roar. I take some photos with fans and then walk in alongside Beth. "I saw Jake" I tell her as we walk into the changing rooms. "No fucking way" she says loudly making everyone look at us, "yeah" I say and laugh. "I have Alex's number as well" I say "Go on girl" she says and hugs me I give her a smile before heading over to Leah "how are you? You haven't answered any of my calls" I say to her, the moment I sit next to her every single one of the girls heads turn to me. "Good" she says gulping whilst staring at Beth. "Hey, I'm here" I say and wave my hand infront of her face. "I can't keep it in anymore" she says and all the girls look over again. She takes a breath and looks at me. "What?" I ask "Me and-" she says. Jordan walks in "hey Bailey, me and you are apparently interviewing together" she says "How fun, when's the interview?" I ask "In about 5 minutes" she says.
I didn't know what to think of Jordan. I knew she was nice, Beth was one of her closest friends I knew that. As they both played at Sunderland together, I mean I sort of met Jordan whilst I played at Sunderland but I was in the under 14s whilst she was in the seniors. Katie always spoke highly of her as well as Caitlin, they said she was a polite kind person, and wouldn't do anything to hurt anything, not even kill a fly. I knew Jordan and Leah had some history in the past, I knew they'd been together, but Leah promised me them two were over. I guess Jordan was an inspiration, although she is in her thirties she still manages to play an amazing game of football as well as scoring bangers. Jordan was one of those people where you sit on the fence with them, you didn't know what it was about them but there was something provoking you from fully trusting them. Maybe it's because leah dated her.
"Girls we need to fight Norway tonight, they are a highly defensive team" Sarina comes in and starts speaking. I walk out alongside Jordan.
"How are you?" She asks "I'm good, how are you?" I ask "Good" she says We walk out to where fans were staring to fill up the stadium, we walk over to the table where Karen Carney, Rachel Yankey and Alex Scott were stood. We get a microphone each.
"And we are joined by two lionesses, Jordan nobbs and Bailey mead" Karen says "Jordan just how important is this game tonight?" Rachel asks "Every game for the lionesses is important, I guess this one is a big one, Norway is a defensive and good side. So it will be a fight for the win, it will be a tight game. But we can win anything, so hopefully we can get through this" Jordan says "Bailey, how are you feeling? Obviously you picked up an injury and can't play with the girls, does that make you inspired watching them?" Karen asks "I'm hyped, honestly doing my ACL was definitely not a highlight of my career. I get to watch my teammates hopefully have some success. And I guess yeah, it does sort of inspire me. No player likes to be benched or on the sidelines so yeah it's hard watching from afar, but the rehab is going well. So I'm fighting for my comeback" I say "How does it feel watching the girls in such a major tournament?" Alex asks "It's a massive thing for their careers, every footballer when they were younger were dreaming of playing in some sort of tournament even with their club. But the fact that they have made it this far, they will be happy. For me it feels, brilliant. I wish I was there but I can't be and I guess it's inspiring. Because it makes you fight even harder as you want to be in the squad" Jordan says "On the back of Jordan's, it's a massive competition and it to be on home soil as well, it's special. It definitely means something. The competition for the England squad is massive. Young girls are getting more and more involved and we hope that since it's on home soil hopefully we can bring another generation into women's football" I say "Thank you" Alex says and we both walk off.
The game starts and Georgia Stanway scores from a penalty at 12 minutes. I was stood with Amanda and Jacob, David couldn't make it as he had a doctor's appointment. At 15 minutes Lauren hemp scores making us 2-0. At 29 minutes Ellen scores. Me and Amanda get up and scream. At 34 minutes Beth adds to the score sheet and again at 38. To finish the first half Ellen scores at 41.
We were pretty strong already up 6-0. At 66 minutes alessia scores. At 81 minutes Beth scores. A Norway hat trick.
We won 8-0.
After the girls do a lap and then I go to the barrier where Beth was. She gives me a massive hug "I'm so proud of you" I say to her Amanda comes down and sees Leah. Me and Beth talk for a bit before she has to go.
