As the taxi pulled up to the curb, Jane DeBarge hesitated before opening the door, her gaze fixed on the magnificentHayvenhurst housestanding proudly in the pouring rain. The grand Victorian architecture, adorned with intricate details, seemed to whisper tales of a bygone era.
With a deep breath, Jane stepped out of the cab, the raindrops dancing around her like a melancholic symphony. She pulled the collar of her black coat tighter around her, the fabric shielding her from the relentless downpour. Despite the weather, she couldn't help but admire the elegance of the estate before her.
The Hayvenhurst house stood tall, its ivory façade illuminated by the soft glow of the streetlights. The sprawling garden, now shrouded in mist, added to the mystique of the place. Jane's heels clicked against the wet pavement as she made her way to the front door, her red lipstick a stark contrast against the monochrome backdrop.
Each step brought her closer to the promise of warmth and shelter, yet the anticipation of what lay beyond the threshold sent a shiver down her spine. With a steady hand, she reached out and rang the doorbell, the sound echoing through the night.
She was invited to the Jackson's house with the request of her brother James DeBarge, She smiled as she was prepared to see him again but more so to see the woman who had gotten him under her little finger.
As Jane peered through the peephole in the front door, her heart quickened with anticipation. She adjusted her position slightly, trying to get a clearer view. The figure approaching was unmistakable in their finely tailored suit, the fabric catching the light just right as they moved closer.
