Ellie's POV

I felt a light breeze brushing against my skin, the feeling of sunlight and roses invading my senses.

I slowly began to open up my eyes, feeling them begin to adjust to the brightness of my surroundings.

Was I in heaven?

"Ellie? Ellie sweetheart, can you hear me?" a nervous voice asked as I lifted my hand to my head, feeling the sudden ache that came with it.

Nope, definitely not heaven.

"Ugh, yeah I can." I said, closing my eyes hoping it would help alleviate the constant pounding.

"How are you feeling?" They asked again, beginning to recognize the voice of my mother speaking to me, causing me to reopen my eyes and look at her.

She held worry as she stood just next to my bed, alongside Liz who was sitting in one of the chairs asleep.

"Like I just got hit by a bus." I joked, watching my mother chuckle a bit before the worry made its way back onto her face.

"Do you remember anything that happened?" she asked, making me feel confused by her question before things slowly started to come back to me.

"Mom, where is Megan?!" I pleaded, feeling myself jerk up from the sheets of the bed to look around the room.

I watched my mother hesitate before speaking.

"She.... She was taken, Ellie." I felt my heart stop.

No. No. This was not happening, I couldn't lose her!

"By the time we found you they had already taken her." My mom's voice said looking distraught, making me start to sob loudly.

"W-we have to find her mom... I have to go look for her." I said, doing my best to get up out of the bed.

"No honey you need to lay back down and rest." My mom said, instantly pushing me back onto the bed.

"Mom, you don't understand!" I said, feeling my heartache, I couldn't just stay here and rest knowing that Megan was out there with those people!

"Baby there isn't much we can do right now; we are doing the best that we can to find her and the others." she said, sadness evident in her voice.

"No mom, you don't get it. I- They are going to change her, I can't let them!" I cried out, hoping that she would just understand and let me leave this hospital room.

"Baby we-"

"I love her mom!" I snapped, feeling all ounce of control leave me as I watched my mom open her mouth, no words escaping her lips.

"Mom, she is my whole world, If something happened to her... I would die right alongside her; I have to at least try." I confessed, seeing my mom's features soften as she looked at me, seeming to understand how I was feeling.

"I understand Ellie, I promise you we will find her and get her back." She said, making me give her a skeptical look at what she said.

"Mom you are joking right? How are we supposed to do that if they've already turned her?!" I started yelling, feeling the tears begin to leave my eyes.

"I understand Ellie, but what's the point of you rushing in there only to end up in the same position as her? If not worse? I can't have my other daughter be taken too." My mom said, giving me a sad look.

I could feel the anger boiling in my blood as I sat there feeling completely hopeless.

"Maybe if you and dad had just saved Eliza the first time this started then maybe none of this would have happened!" I said, seeing my mom begin to tense up in anger.
