Tell Me Everything

I awoke several hours later to the blaring of my alarm clock. I turned my head and saw that it was only 7:45am. I sat up and turned off the alarm stretching my arms above my head. A piece of paper fell off my chest and I looked down. It was Nikolai's letter. I considered it for nearly a minute before folding it in half and walking over to my closet.

I reached up and grabbed the scrap book where I kept all the letters sent by my mother over the years. I slipped Nikolai's note into one of the protective sleeves behind my mother's and put the scrap book back on the shelf in my closet.

I grabbed some clean scrubs and left my room. The door of the hall bathroom was shut, and I could hear Octavia inside readying herself for the day. I sighed and turned to Sissy's closed door. I knocked softly before opening the door and ducking inside.

Sissy was spread eagle on her bed, silky sheets half covering her naked body and snoring loudly. I approached cautiously and said, "Sis, Octavia's in my bathroom. Can I use yours?" Her eye opened a crack, and she mumbled something incoherent before rolling over. I sighed. That was the closest thing to a response I was going to get this early in the morning.

I entered Sissy's giant bathroom doing my best to ignore the mess and I quickly showered and changed into my scrubs. When I left the bathroom, Sissy was still fast asleep. I returned my dirty clothing to the hamper in my room and went to the now free hall bathroom to brush my teeth.

I went into the kitchen and found Octavia pulling a full pot of coffee off the maker. She filled a travel mug for herself and added some Sweet & Creamy oat milk creamer. She then glanced at me and gestured, "I made you some English breakfast tea." She pointed at another travel mug, and I smiled tentatively saying, "Thanks." I picked up the mug and took a sip sighing at the warmth.

I glanced at her and said, "Sissy's still asleep so I'll take you to school." She nodded and more awkward silence proceeded. After a while I mumbled, "About my attitude last night, I'm sorry."

She shook her head and signed, "Don't be. I texted Niki after you left last night to make sure he was okay, and he told me what happened." My cheeks went pink, and I squeaked, "He told you?" She snorted and replied, "Well, he didn't give me details, but seeing the look on your face right now makes me wish he had." My flush deepened and Octavia laughed harder.

"He just said that he walked in on you and Barapha being disgustingly romantic, and he didn't want to risk getting in the middle of it," she said, and I nodded mumbling, "It makes him seem rather noble, doesn't it?" She scoffed and signed, "Noble? He probably ran because Barapha is huge and terrifying, and he didn't want to be made into a human popsicle."

I laughed and reached out to ruffle her hair saying, "I love you, Octavia." Now it was her turn to blush. She batted my hand away and said, "Come on, I'm going to be late." I smiled and we were on our way out the door when Sissy emerged half-dressed from her room.

"Oh, you're awake," she said, and I smiled saying, "Yes, thanks to whoever set my alarm. I might actually make it to work on time today."

Octavia tapped me on the shoulder and signed, "Me." I smiled at her then looked back at Sissy saying, "Love you." We left the apartment and she shouted, "Love you! You know you're telling me everything when you get home!"
