The cold was nearly unbearable. It tore at me like an icy wind and I knew that if I had been alone, if Quetz wasn't with me, I would be a Popsicle. My skin began to go numb and my muscles tensed in a shiver. I could no longer hear the people around me. My head was filled with the sound of a roaring ice storm. I wanted to let go, but I couldn't. I couldn't feel my hands.
Just as I was beginning to lose consciousness, the heat at my core shrinking to the barest flicker, I felt my heart pounding in my chest pumping blood fast and hot through my veins which dilated in response to allow the blood to flow more easily. Suddenly my skin was on fire and the roaring in my ears dimmed. I heard Barapha moan.
He twisted around and I felt his lips on my face. The cold was like fire against my skin. Quetz was a source of heat like flames licking his skin. My heat clawed underneath his skin diving into him, filling him with warmth. It was a delightful combination.
He turned away from Quetz and held my face in his hands. I needed that coolness now. I felt like I was suffocating in my own skin. I felt his lips on mine, his tongue moist and cold and I bit down tasting his frigid blood.
He grunted and his hands moved from my face to my neck sapping the warmth from my veins. I could see the red light pulsing under his skin, leaping off of him sparkling in the air.
He pulled away from me and glanced around. I followed his gaze. The entire ballroom was half-naked thrashing against each other. Sissy was rolling around with at least a dozen different species. Taylor Golan was basking in the glory of several faeries who were prodding at him making him take the form of his character Elora Bloodhoof so they could squeal over his beautiful white hair and shapely breasts. The air around him was glittering silver and gold.
Barapha suddenly stood up leaving Quetz and I to collapse on the floor. I glanced over at Quetz and saw that there were tears frozen on his face and he was shivering violently. I reached over and set my hand on his shoulder. He looked up at me and his golden eyes were wide.
"H-how are you s-still so warm?" he asked and I smiled softly pulling him into a hug. His skin was hot, it had to be, but it felt cool against mine. He sighed and rested his head on my shoulder.
I glanced over at Barapha who was walking over to the writhing crowd, the red light under his skin was fading to be replaced by a negative dark blue glow. He neared the mass of people and held out his arms.
The temperature in the room sank and the air around Barapha swirled with ice crystals. The other Mythics didn't seem to notice they were being fed upon, but suddenly all the moisture in the room condensed and soon snowflakes were drifting lazily to the ground.
I almost laughed. It was snowing. It was snowing inside. I watched as Barapha siphoned the heat from over a hundred horny Mythics, his light brown skin flushing from the heat.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves now and the Lob was nowhere to be seen. Several people had lost all of their clothes and were thrusting against each other to keep warm. I felt a little bile rise in my throat. It wasn't that I was anti-sex...it just made me feel a little uncomfortable and grossed out.
It was getting late and I had work tomorrow. I should probably leave. I tapped Quetz on the shoulder and heard him snoring softly. He had fallen asleep. Amidst all this chaos he had fallen asleep in my arms. I sighed.
"Quetz," I whispered poking him in the cheek. He didn't stir. I shook him and he just continued snoring. I heard footsteps behind me and a wave of cold and a voice said, "That's not gonna work. The boy sleeps like the dead."
I glanced up and saw Barapha, his eyes bright, his dark blue blood pooling beneath his skin in a light blush. He reached down and grabbed Quetz under his arms heaving him off of me. I stood up and watched as he hugged Quetz to his side and started towards the door.
I scampered after him, leaving Sissy and the rest to their hip-thrusting fun and I asked, "You're leaving?"
"Yeah, I'd stay, but Quetz is a nightmare when he doesn't get his eight hours," he replied and I couldn't help but smile. Barapha liked to pretend that he was hard and cold as ice, that Quetz was just a feed and a fuck, but he cared. Maybe not in the way Quetz wanted, but he definitely cared.
We left the hotel and Barapha stopped me with a hand on my shoulder. His skin was cold, but not as cold as it had been before. It felt nice. He adjusted Quetz on his hip, the Amphithere's head lolling to hit Barapha's shoulder.
He tapped his lips and I smiled leaning forward to kiss him. It was light and quick and sweet and when he pulled away he said, "Thanks for the party. We should do it again sometime."
Then we parted ways. He started towards the North end of town and I made my way to the South back towards Center Park.
It was nearly one in the morning by the time I reached the apartment and I was in the middle of unlocking the door when I heard a voice inside.
I fumbled with the keys and shoved the door open immediately fearing the worst. I saw Octavia on the pull-out couch and next to her was a heavy woman with short blonde hair. They both looked at me,
I opened my mouth to ask what was going on, but before I could the woman stood up and said, "So you're the thing that murdered my brother and seduced my niece."
