Parker tore out of the driveway as though we were being timed.
I turned to look back at Kayla who gave me a weak smile "Hey Harper."
"Hi Kayla," I smiled in return before turning to Parker "so where are we headed now?"
"Safe house." Parker stated, the gravity in the car dissipating as she took a hard left turn
I let out a sigh and looked out the window, a silence settling over us.
"What's wrong Harper?" Parker asked
I shrugged, still looking out the window as the trees whirred by "I was supposed to meet up with Colton before your goons hit me over the head and kidnapped me."
"They fucking did what?" Her voice was laced with so much venom I jumped and turned to face her
My heart was beating in my ears "They uh, knocked me out."
"They hit you in the head?" She clarified, the engine revving as she sped up
I nodded slowly "Yeah they did, but you're missing the point."
She looked over at me, a scary look in her eyes "That is the point Harper. Between Aria kissing you and someone hitting you upside the head I'm ready to line them up and-"
"Parker I promise I'm fine and I'm the one who kissed Aria, not the other way around." I stated matter of factly
She fell silent a moment before replying "Why did you kiss her?"
Poor Kayla in the back listening in on this.
"I was mad at you and also to be able to distract her and escape, but mostly because I was mad at you." I stated
She tightened her grip on the wheel, "Did you enjoy it?"
"Not at all," I replied immediately "and I'm sorry."
She nodded to herself as though processing the information, "So you didn't enjoy it?"
Her voice cracked slightly and it broke my heart to hear her so upset.
"It made my skin crawl and I hated it." I clarified
A thick silence settled over the three of us so suffocating I felt the urge to roll down the window.
"It was pretty bad ass how you took her down if I'm being honest." Parker stated, glancing over at me for a second before looking back at the road
There was a glint of humor in her eye and a smirk now playing on her lips. The rest of the ride went by without a hitch and in a couple hours we pulled onto a dirt driveway very similar to the safe house I had ran away from back in New York. Once parked we all climbed out and I watched the other Audi pull in beside us. I quickly followed closely behind Parker in hopes of avoiding a confrontation. Aria had other ideas though as she made a beeline straight for us, not even bothering to close her door.
"So Harper you care to explain what the fuck that was about back there?" She yelled causing me to stop dead in my tracks and face her
I felt queasy, my palms sweaty, "I uh, I'm sorry."
Wow I am really losing all the bad ass points I earned back at the last safe house.
She gave me a pointed look, "Bitch I'll show you sorry."
I heard a click to my left and saw that Parker now had her pistol pointed directly between Aria's eyes.
"You won't do shit Aria. Give me one more goddam reason and I swear I will pull the trigger without thinking twice." Parker muttered out, her eyes narrowed on Aria "Got it?"
Aria's eyes were wide, her face flushed as she nodded in response.
"Say it bitch." Parker instructed.
Aria stuttered out "I-I got it."
Parker let the gun fall to point at the ground below, swished saliva around in her mouth and the spit it on Aria's boots.
She took a step closer, looking Aria dead in the eyes, "If you so much as look at her the wrong way again I will fucking kill you Aria. Don't think it's a threat because it's a promise."
Talia was watching the whole thing and as I looked at her I saw her eyes were wide.
"Alright Parker that's enough let's go inside." I said reaching out and taking her arm in mine
She continued to glare Aria down until we reached the porch steps. She finally focused on where she was going and we made our way up and onto the porch before opening the door to go inside. She now took the lead, lacing her fingers with mine and half dragging me upstairs. As soon as we hit the second floor landing she pushed me back against the wall and captured my lips with hers. The heat built between us in an instant, both of us desperately exploring the other's body and tugging at loose articles of clothing. It was like frenzy as we blindly moved down the hall towards a room, any room. The second we slipped inside an open doorway Parker pulled my shirt up and over my head. I kicked the door shut and then pulled off hers as I had before we were rudely interrupted last time. I ran my fingertips down her exposed torso and froze upon the cold metal of the gun.
I looked down at it and she gently took it, placing it on the dresser before looking at me "You have no idea how jealous I was of Aria. You might've seen how pissed I was a minute ago but that doesn't even compete with how jealous I was watching that live."
"You watched it live?" I questioned, my stomach turning
She nodded and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear "I was watching the entire time to make sure nothing happened to you."
My heart sped slightly, "I really am sorry."
"I know," she nodded "and I forgive you but if you ever so much as look at someone else again I'll, I'll..."
I cut her off, "Baby I will never, ever even think about another woman like that again. You're all I want and as long as you're honest with me I'm here to stay."
"Well if we're being honest, as much as I enjoy talking to you there are some other things I'd rather be doing instead," She smirked looking me up and down "and they involve far less clothes."
