When I say that I know Nikita, this is what I am referring to and my point. With amusement shining in my eyes, I put both hands on my hips. I am pretty sure I will not like what she has to say in return for helping me set up a one-night date with his cousin Rofus based on her current reaction.
“Tell me, what is all about Nikita?”
“Don't you like it?”
I forced a fake smile on my lips.
"Girl, before I explain everything to you, you must agree."
What? Nonsense! What if I am unable to complete it or if what she asks hurts me? It isn't apparent to me. Why do I have to agree before she says it?
"How can I agree if I am not sure what it is about? Let me know first."
She simply shrugged her shoulder and returned to her seat. I was wondering what she would ask me. Perhaps she will not hurt me because she is a friend. Still, I cannot be comfortable here because she is Nikita—a cunning and deceitful friend.
"Come on, Nikita. Let me know what you want in return. I am waiting for your response. Tell me about it first before I agree to your terms."
"Would you agree first?"
I rolled my eyes in her direction. She still does not understand what I wanted and meant.
"You need to agree first before I tell you about it."
"Fine, so what is it?"
She took a deep breath before turning to face me. I could tell by her eyes that she was skeptical, but she said it anyway.
"First and foremost, I want you to know that, despite his appearance, my cousin is not as perfect as you may believe. There are times when his behavior is inappropriate and frightening. He is also selfish at times and strange most of the time. Are you still into him, Amelia?"
I do not understand what Nikita is attempting to point out. She previously built a positive character for her cousin Rofus, and now she is defaming him in front of me. She made me more curious about her plan. Perhaps she doesn't like me for her cousin? What else could be her reason?
"I mean, there are times when you do not get along because of the age difference. You can have a fight and a misunderstanding with him anytime. Your personality and his are not compatible. Furthermore, his patience is limited to begin with. Are you okay with that, Amelia? Are you still willing to go on a date with him, knowing his human behavior?"
I gave a nod, indicating that I knew exactly what I wanted. I was intrigued to learn more about Rofus after hearing what she had to say about him. Other than the fact that he was a wolf, I was just more fascinated by his personality. It seems like this will be enjoyable.
"Yes," I said firmly, not even surprising her because it seemed like she was expecting it.
"All right, I would rather not hear you whine about the aspects of him that you find objectionable. Once you do that, you are going to be my enemy. Do you understand, Amelia?”
I gave another nod.
"Do not complain to me in the future; I already told you about those."
She is acting strangely.
Not because I am fond of him. I should be liked in return by Rofus as well. That seems to be how dating works in Nikita's speech. Is she expecting a quick romantic relationship to follow? Naturally, we are still in the initial stages of getting to know one another.
“Tell me the truth, Nikita. Do you think Rofus likes me, too?
I am not sure where I got the confidence or the idea to ask her that right now.
“What? That is not what I said." She erupted into laughter, seemingly finding humor in what I had said. "Am I aware of his feelings? Of course not. Sweetheart, Rofus had his expectations."
I did not disagree with anything she said.
"It seems like you are telling me right now that if I go on a date with him, we will undoubtedly start dating on the same day. Allow both of us to get to know one another. I am not in a hurry to get into a committed relationship just yet.
I snickered. I enjoy her style of thinking.
"You are too hilarious to be acting so goofy. I am just smitten with him. Do not give the impression that I already love him. You understand what a crush is, am I right? Nikita, it was merely admiration, not love or sincere affection.”
Regarding my statement, she remained silent. She chose to discuss something else instead. This was connected to what she intended to request in return for carrying out the favor she was performing for me. It was something I never thought she would ask me.
“Are you serious about that, Nikita?” I could ask questions after I had pondered her words for a few minutes.
“Yes. Do I seem to be mocking you? I mean it. Really. I would like to request that in return for the favor.
Nikita has just asked me to contact my mother and make things right. If I go home and work things out with her, she will help me go on a date with her cousin, Rofus. Knowing Nikita, even though it is only a night, I know she takes this seriously. It will not be jokes from her.
“Why, Nikita?”
“Don't ask me why, Amelia. Before you get into a serious relationship, I want you to work things out with your family. Is that a bad thing? I am your friend. Is it wrong for me to wish you and your mother a good relationship?"
Wait, what is she talking about now?
Serious relationship?
Is my friend's brain truly that advanced?
I am just having a crush on Rofus, for goodness sake. It is only a date, as well.
The way she was speaking now and making plans, it seemed like after our date, Rofus and I would start dating right away. She looks different right now, which sounds horrible and hypocritical!
“It's not Nikita, but—”
"It is acceptable if you choose not to. Perhaps I am not needed to help you. It's alright. Now, going on a date with my cousin Rofus will remain your fantasy.
She got to her feet and hurried into the apartment, seeming dismayed. I came after her. As she previously stated, her cousin Rofus has short patience. With the same characters, I can honestly express that they are now blood-related.
"Nikita, hold on a second!"
She turned to face me, her lips forming a stranger smile like she had won our battle. I retreated a few paces after being shocked by this.
"Now what? I thought you didn't need my help. You can propose a date to Rofus. You are capable of doing it by yourself."
It just took a few seconds for me to pout after I sealed my lips and kept my mouth shut. It was clear that she was upset with what I had done. I disagree that it is not my fault, but it is also not her fault. I find it difficult right now to repay her favor.
“You are quick to sulk. Let me first speak. Naturally, I am still thinking.
“Thinking what? You don't need to think about it. All you have to do is respond to my query. Are you willing to do this or not?"
"All right, Nikita, I accept your terms for your assistance. Alright, I will visit our home and make apologies to my mother. Do you feel content right now?"
"Fantastic!" she clapped her hand, "You know what? So far, that was your right decision."
Does it? I hope so.
"Come on over here, Amelia. Let us head inside to continue our conversation." she dragged me inside the apartment.
