I widened my eyes and looked around, Asa and Akira's eyes already on me. "I...I can't s-say that..." I stuttered. "Oh c'mon! I'm sure there is nothing THAT bad...!" She taunted me. The doorbell rang. "I'll get it. Atlas, listen to her and tell me about it," She walked to the door. "Don't stress about that. You don't have to say it if you're not comfortable..." Atlas comforted me. "I don't think Lazuli would take that positively, Atlas," Calista groaned. I took a deep breath. I trusted them too much to hide something.
"I have a power that allows me to see the described lives of people I focus on," I blabbered out as I felt a huge weight on my shoulders get removed. Asa and Akira rubbed their eyes in disappointment. Maybe they didn't expect me to reveal a secret about myself. "Y-You can what?" Atlas asked. "Can you...describe what you can see if you focus on people?" Atlas moved closer to me. "I...I can see their past lives, the past of their present life and their future," I explained. "Wait...Your full name is Reiko Chikako, right?"
I nodded. He walked away to his shared room and brought out his laptop. He logged into it as the others scooted over. "Atlas! Do you want Lavender Cookies??" Lazuli screamed from the door. "No thank you!" He answered back as he surfed through the web. "There is one prophecy I've heard that is quite identical to your life..." He opened a link. "The Prediction of The Sunarkanians," He breathed out. "Sunarkanians?" Akira scoffed. "What are those?" "THEY are ancient tribes with different sub-categories." Atlas rolled his eyes.
"Your life's prediction, Reiko, comes from the rarest variant of the tribe," He looked into my eyes. "The Skordens," He pronounced the name carefully. He placed his laptop down and picked up his colossal bag and rummaged through it, plucking out a crinkly sheet of paper. "I once jotted down the prophecy to search it up but uh..." His voice trailed off. "Open it up!" Asa jumped on the bed. "We wanna see what's inside!!" Akira and Calista giggled together. I gulped and peeled it open.
"A'ameclo seou hrskisoudai mecklanor mojz, Kesundr majyqo, Kemolya Reikoya Chikakomi semi-z."
We shared confused glances when Akira suggested that we search it up now. Atlas swiftly translated it into English.
"O' Heaven and Hell, There she fell; They pulled the Curse o' lever, and yet she was quite clever; The curse shall end and only she can bend; And that certain someone will go, The Legendary Reiko Chikako."
Everyone's eyes were on me, who was just as confused as them.
"Wasn't this prediction made almost 1000 years ago...?" Asa hesitantly asked as Atlas nodded slowly. "Heyy!! I got cookies!" Lazuli came back at the wrong time to 5 people all portraying different versions of fright. Lazuli turned to Atlas. "What happened?" "R-Reiko...Ch-Chikako..." He turned to her slowly, still in a daze. Her eyes widened as she slowly took in what he had said. "The Sunarkanian one?" She put the cookies down. Everyone nodded. "Did you tell her everything?" Lazuli asked. "There's more??" Akira gasped.
Lazuli sat down next to me. "I know it's frightening to see your name -- precisely too -- in a 1000-year-old manuscript. But please listen to me first." She sighed. "I'm sure my brother would have said this but, The Sunarkanians were great predictors. This one belonged to one of their most treasured predictions since this one contained a backstory as well. Once, The Gazellets laid a curse upon The Skordens over a patch of land. Their tribe would never be able to reproduce ever except for the youngest child there."
"Even the next generation from that child wouldn't be able to reproduce. But then The Sephalettes, a tribe close to The Skordens, decided to help and were able to uplift the curse to a good extent, wherein the 13th life of the child would be the breaker of the curse. That child's name was supposedly, Reiko Mezumi. But he warned them that for all 12 of her lives, she would have the same life as an average human, except for her 13th life where she would make a change. Atlas has saved a PDF containing the rest of the info."
She embraced me tightly. As soon as she let go, I stood up and punched Atlas out of his trance. "We don't have much to ponder on, buddy," I said. Atlas nodded ahead and opened that PDF. "I translated it to English already," Lazuli smiled. It was all in Ballad format and was still short. Since I knew most of the prophecy in the way Lazuli explained it to me, I scrolled the mouse to the part that talked about the little Reiko Mezumi.
"Little did the little one know, The men were all but zero. She married at ten, and had children that can't be written by a pen. The pure soul lived till it turned frail, until the boat of death set sail.
- Reiko Mezumi"
The poems were the same until I saw the 13th.
"Life followed the twelve, but with a sudden difference. Time circled her mind unlike others, but the same with no father nor mother. Pray time comes though, but not soon, her brain shall spark a thought.
- Reiko Chikako"
