"WHAT??" Akira screamed. "So we're living close to his room?!" Atlas asked in disbelief. "So we're clean!" Calista and Lazuli gave a high-five. I stood there, in a trance, as the room echoed with chaotic emotions. After a 3-hour discussion from playing truth or dare, We hugged each other and fell asleep on the same bed, crossing our fingers that our plan would succeed.

We got ready and marched to Mrs Circe's room at 7:36 AM. "Who's knocking?" Lazuli asked to the others as the door swung open. "Hello, Kids!"

Mrs Circe stood by the door, her bony figure overshadowing us all. "W-We came to l-learn Biology..." Calista swallowed hard. "Of course you did!" Mrs Circe cackled.

We settled down on her musty couch, as she pulled a giant book from her rack. "Facts on Animals," She began. "Did you know that The Giant Squid has a doughnut-shaped brain that encircles its Oesophagus and if it ingests anything too large, it risks a brain injury?" She grinned wildly. She continued to rant about animals and I slowly focused on her.

What a past life list! I wondered.

"Death by Cyanide poisoning." I felt my eyes widen, and soon her past began. Skip to when I regained consciousness, I had come to know that she was born in Copernicus, Ceres.

After a struggle to leave her room, we marched back to our room and lay on the floor. "Mrs Valentinne was from Gaia City, Mrs Serenne from Axelville and Mrs Circe from Copernicus," I muttered. "Mr Thangavel is the only one left," I muttered as I opened the door to leave the room. "What about me?" A deep voice boomed from the corridor. We peeked out of the door, to see Mr Thangavel holding a bag full of groceries, his face contorted into an angry expression. "Weren't you the one that knocked on my door last night?"

He said as his grip on the bag tightened whilst glaring at Asa and Akira. "Which one of them was it?" His footsteps boomed on the moist carpet as he approached our doorstep. I quickly jumped out, stopping him in his tracks. "It was me!" I lied, to save my brothers. He towered over me. "You...move out of the way, Reiko!" He shouted, but I stood there like a rock. He had something against my brother(s) and if I moved out of the way, he'd maybe even beat them to death. "No. I made the mistake, so you should punish me, sir."

I shut my eyes as I expected a sharp pain on my cheek. But nothing came. I slowly opened my eyes to see him looking down. He sniffled and soon buckled to the ground and started to sob. I backed up a bit, not knowing what to do. We slowly went to his side, to try and comfort him. "Thaenmozhi..." He sobbed a name, sending us aback. "You remind me too much of her, Reiko," He sobbed as he looked at me with tears. "The way you look, the way you act, everything!" He screamed as he banged on the carpet.

We somehow brought him to his room. He sat on his couch, staring at the ceiling as he continued to sniffle. We gulped and slowly asked, "W-Who's T-Thaenmozhi?" "My life," He replied as tears once again brimmed to his eyes.

"I was deemed ugly when I was a child. I was ugly. I looked bony, had an undesirable skin tone and had an ugly set of eyes. I looked horrid," He sat up. "B-But you're well-built, your eyes are green and your skin is bronze; your hair matches the way you look!" Calista exclaimed. He smirked.

"I was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation at the of 10. And this-" He pointed to his body. "-was all because of that mutation. But it all happened only after I was with her," He smiled as he looked down. "Okay, now I see why you always looked at me during class," I said. "But why do you act like you hate my brothers?" "It's not that I hate them particularly; I just...don't like twins," He sighed. "Venba and Valli, they were the closest friends of Thaen. But they ghosted her as soon as they knew she had loved me."

"I vividly remember what those twins said to me when I confessed to Thaen. "Un munchiku love thevayaa? (You want love for a face like that?)"... Valli laughed from one corner and Venba did from the other, until Thaen stepped in and confessed to me that she liked me too," His eyes began to water. "It was 2058, We were both 19 and had been together for 10 years. It was True love indeed. But I was too much of an introvert to find myself any friends. I was an orphan too. Thaen had a great support system though.

If she wasn't there in my life, I would've very well died. She was my everything. It was 2060, Her parents and a few relatives of mine who had taken care of me until I turned 15 had decided our marriage. We were both 21 at the time, so we decided to buy a house for ourselves and move in before our marriage. One day, whilst hunting for houses, "I'm hungry, dear," Thaen groaned from the backseat of our bike. "Niruththu da. Naan chips vaangitu varen, ( Stop the bike. I'll go buy chips and return.)" She got off.

"Enakku oru Goli Soda,(Get me a Marble Soda.)" I told her as she glared at me. She looked around before crossing the road. I remember very well. The road was free. She reached the middle of the road when a huge truck rammed my lover and threw her metres away..." He began to sniffle and weep. "I sat there in shock, unable to comprehend what had happened," Tears streamed down his face. "I slowly walked to where she lay, as still as a rock. My eyes poured out tears, my knees growing weak as I walked amidst the crowd.

I was once again left alone. I knelt to her body -- all smashed and covered in blood. Her beautiful long black hair was all knotted and coated in blood. I hugged her cold body. I screamed her name out loud as tears streamed down my face. The man riding the truck rode his vehicle away. With no one left in that dreaded land, I left for Hursea Islands, to reconstruct my life again; from scratch," He ended his story as he sniffled. "You, Reiko, remind me too much of her. You look...just like her too," He smiled at me.
