The drifting scene in Japan was quite literally fucking insane.

It was the whole reason why Han Lue decided to make his way there. He had made plans with somebody else, but those plans changed. Now, Han stood in the parking garage, getting himself familiar with his new surroundings and the car scene.

After two years of travel and millions to his name, Han knew that coming to Japan was the right idea. However, that didn't stop him from wishing that Brooklyn was still alive to see the drifting scene. Han had told her about his dreams of coming to Japan – and Brooklyn made the decision to settle down there, with him.

They were supposed to start their lives together, officially. Settling down in one place, maybe along the way have a kid or two. Han knew that Brooklyn wasn't interested in marriage, but kids were another story. Brooklyn always told him she wanted children, but there seemed to be something else involved to make her hesitate when she did back in Hong Kong. Han never got the answer.

Han wished he got an explanation as to why Brooklyn would sacrifice herself – their relationship – the way she did. Sure, she saved his life, but in the process, she killed herself.

Han knew it was going to be difficult, moving on from someone like Brooklyn James.

When he decided to come to Japan, Han knew he wouldn't be the same person his friends knew back home. He knew it was the wrong idea, but Han decided to take a page out of Roman's book and memories from his high school days. Han wasn't going to grieve properly, he already knew that, and he suspected that Dom knew that too.

Han got himself a one-way ticket to Japan was soon as possible after their names were cleared. Han didn't want to look back to the memories of him and Brooklyn, at least not right now. He came to Japan to become someone he previously was – fuck around, get drunk off his ass, get a couple of cars to fix up and show off, and try to forget all about Brooklyn.

It wasn't a healthy coping mechanism, Han knew that.

That didn't mean he wasn't going to do it anyway.

It was Han's first official night at the race. He had found out the location through a couple of people he befriends.

It was nothing like what he was used to – he had always said that Tokyo was doing crazy shit. And Han wasn't wrong. The drifting scene was something he could get behind. It was nothing like he had seen before in his travels pre-Brooklyn. Even when they traveled, they did show up to some of the street racers in those countries. Tokyo's racing scene was just up Han's alley.

As Han stood there, watching the fashion show, he noticed someone off to the side. At first, he didn't find anything particular about her, it wasn't like Americans to find the drifting scene, there were several around. However, Han noticed that every time a car made a single sound, she'd flinch or even jump.
