When Elle woke up, she thought she had a horrible nightmare. But after rubbing her eyes, Elle realized that she wasn't in her own bedroom. Elle also wasn't wearing the clothes she had on last night either – she was in a large, baggy hoodie that went past her knees. Her hair was only damp from the storm. Elle looked down at her lap, seeing the blanket that was draped over her in the middle of the night.
Elle wondered if this place belonged to the man who saved her last night.
Elle pushed the blanket off to the side, slipping off the bed. Elle could see the kitchen and then an open area. She hesitated before walking out of the bedroom. Elle moved slowly forward, feeling scared after last night. She peered around the wall to the couch, seeing the man from last night and someone new.
The woman that was new to Elle was laying on top of the man. The man's arm was draped across her back.
Elle stepped forward, only to stop short. The woman started to wake up – did Elle make too much noise?
Bishop's eyes slowly opened, feeling how uncomfortable she was. Bishop turned her head, looking at Han's face. Last night, after Bishop tended to Elle, Han and Bishop must have fallen asleep next to Han. How they got into this position, Bishop would never know.
She gently pushed Han's hand off her, replacing the blanket over him. Bishop turned, stopping short when she saw Elle awake for a second time. Elle's eyes were wide, almost afraid of what Bishop was going to do. Bishop glanced to Han before moving around the coffee table to speak with Elle. Elle stepped back, causing Bishop to stop moving. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Elle looked down at her feet. "You don't remember last night, do you?"
Elle could remember some things – like how she watched her parents blow up, and how she was about to be shot if that man didn't stop them. But if this woman was asking Elle about how she got there or why she was dressed in a hoodie, then no.
Elle shook her head.
"You woke up last night. I'm pretty sure you were working on autopilot." Bishop knelt down to be eye level with Elle. "I helped you get changed and cleaned up." Bishop saw Elle grow nervous. "You're safe here, Elle." Han and Bishop learned what her name was when Bishop asked her for it. "I'm Bishop," Elle looked up from her feet to Bishop. "And that's Han. We're not going to hurt you." Bishop stood up from where she was kneeling. "Do you want to help me make breakfast?"
"Can't I just go home?" Elle asked.
Bishop's face fell, shaking her head. "No, I'm sorry." Bishop knew that Elle couldn't go back, not when Bishop knew there would be an investigation into Elle's parents' death. Bishop would have to get Mr. Nobody to her apartment as soon as humanly possible. "Why don't you go use the bathroom, I can start making some breakfast." Bishop said, giving Elle a smile.
