- Sarah's POV -

We couldn't visit England this summer, there it was actually winter. Dad has a lot of work, so my parents decided to postpone that travel we always do to visit dad's home. This fact meant that I was in Argentina, with the hot temperatures trying to kill everyone here, doing nothing. Days were all the same, a routine adapted to this new summer in my home. I was thankful that our house was actually pretty cool and had a lot of room to make the days a little more entertaining. A pool, a little space in the garage converted into a gym, living room with a huge TV to watch movies, a "study room" where I could read, and of course my own room. That's all I needed.

My friends would come home to hang out, taking advantage of our pool and the fact we stayed in the city. Since I'm an introverted person and didn't talk that much unless you ask me something and I felt comfortable talking long to you, my mom loved having my friends around and get to ask them all about their lifes. They were my friends from high school. Some of them even were my friends back in primary school, so we had known each other for a long time. They would come to my house on Fridays and probably spend the night (or two days) here.

T

he first days from January were spent like that. They would show up at my door, my mom would greet them, and we would spend all day together. Some time in the pool, some just playing board games, and most of the time gossiping or reliving memories we had together. I was always amazed by the way friends had to understand your personality and humor to stay with you, so I was thankful for their friendship and the fact that they chose to stick with me this long. One of the important values for me is loyalty, I always seek it in my closer relationships. Having them around felt amazing, we took every moment we had free to meet, because when uni starts in March it gets really difficult to hang out all of us.

University, what a strange period of our lives. You get to learn about something that you chose, something that you are really interested in, but at the same time, you'll probably be more stressed than ever. It's like, "I got to study and learn about what I want to do for the rest of my life," but the moment you forget to enjoy all this process, it gets really stressful. You start to question yourself, your choices about your career, your future. All of that starts to get inside your backpack of thoughts, which just continues to get heavier with the run of time. And that's why it's really important to get moments for yourself when you can disconnect and be without any thought.

For me, it's excersing, the perfect time to be by myself without any other thought about life. Sports have always been a safe place. I started swimming when I was 4 and later, when I was 8 I also started to play handball. When I'm training, it's like everything else doesn't really matter anymore. Just that moment gets my focus. It helps me to keep fit, but most importantly, it really helps with my mental health. Since I'm not a person to open up a lot to others, it's my chance to just get everything out, my time to clean my mind.

"Hey, I'm back." - The voice of my dad surprises me, waking me up from my daydreaming.

"Hello, dad. You're back sooner than expected." - I said while giving him a hug.

"Yeah, well, yesterday I stayed up for some hours to get some work done. It paid off."

That was something new. He never stayed up at night. Actually, he would spend more hours at the office if he had some work to get done. He also seemed excited and nervous, or maybe he was anxious.

"What's going on? You look like a kid who wants to tell you a secret, I'm scared you're gonna start jumping in your place in the next minute." - I asked him, it was really funny to watch him like that and he laughed the moment I stopped talking.

"So, I have something to tell you. I already talked to your mom about it."

"Please tell you're gonna let me adopt a puppy." - I've been trying to get one for years now.

"No, you have to talk to mom for that. It has nothing to do to get something, literally."

"Decilo de una vez, viejo." (Just spill it, old man) - I said in Spanish, he hates when I answer to him in spanish if he starts the conversation in English. I earned a funny look for that from my dad.

"I got in contact with my friend again these last weeks."

After he said that, I looked at him confused. What's that got to do with me? Did he mean a friend back from his home? I mean, I'm happy for him, but still. He realized that I wasn't following the point.

"Remember that I had a best friend from England, one that I knew since I was 9 years old? I told you that I wanted to get in contact again. After we moved here, we didn't really keep in touch. He had a very demanding job, and with us moving, I didn't reach him a lot." - He stopped to get his breath back. He kind of just vomited all those words in the rush to explain everything.

"Oh, that's cool. I mean to get your friendship back after all these years. It's amazing, dad."

"Well, not only my friendship. He's your godfather too. He was really important to me back in the day, and I decided he was the best for that role."

"I don't remember him, sorry." - I felt awkward. This guy was important to my dad, and I can't even remember him. He was part of my family, actually, if he was my godfather. We are a small family, and I can't even picture one of the members of it.

"It would have been impressive if you did. Last time you saw him, you were 2 and half years old." - He laughed. "He got you a lot of presents during the first years we moved out, those little cars you used to play with, for example. He also gifted you that teddy bear with the purple top. You used to bring that thing everywhere. Then we just lost contact over the years."

"Ok, let's start to build a picture of him. He's family, so I need a name, at least." - I said, remembering how I used to love that teddy bear my dad just told me. Thank God I never lost it, it would have been a terrible moment for the 3 of us. For my parents, because I'd probably cry, no stop for no less than 2 days in a row.

"His name is Lewis."- Dad told me smiling. I could see he loves this guy.
