.7. Legacy Pt. 1

"Two new divines in one day, both from the outer world. It would be foolish to wave this off as a coincidence."

"Yes, but what could happen? Maybe its just nothing?"

The old centaur stared deep in the horizon. His eyes radiated experience, older than anything. Old would be the wrong word; It was ancient. 

The young gray eyed legacy kept looking at the old centaur headmaster beside her, wondering what he was about to do. 

After a moment, Chiron took off his gaze and declared his decision. "Bring them both to the Grand Chamber. Fetch the oracle and bring her there too."

The 'oracle' of this Mythical world, was the one who declared the mystical prophecies and verdicts of Apollo. The job of the oracle has been transferred from one person to another for eons. Up till 60 years ago, the Oracle was Marian Dare, a clear-sighted mortal daughter of the previous oracle. After Marian, the oracle was a legacy of Apollo, who happened to be a hunter of Artemis. After her retirement from the job, the current oracle was Juliette Rosaline, a 19 year old demigod of Apollo. 

Chiron watched the young legacy walk away towards the Oracle's cave. Chiron shook his head and muttered some words, before walking towards the Grand Chamber. 

The grand chamber was one of the largest hall rooms of the academy. It looked like a Roman Senate room with a modern outlook. Modern to say, stuff were digital here. Like digital Conference boards, tablets, and glowing neon walls and benches. 

A large round table occupied the center of the chamber, with 22 chairs around it. On the sides of the room were rows of seats for more than 800 people. A special seat for Chiron was present close to the central table, beside a single seat which was always empty.

A bell rung in the distance announcing the students and everyone else about the council. 

It took around 20 minutes for the whole assembly to settle in. All 22 chairs in the center were occupied by the 22 head councilors of each division. Students, teachers and staff members had stopped doing whatever they were doing to attend the council. Everyone was seated patiently, waiting for whatever announcement Chiron would make. 

At last, 5 people walked in through the doors. In the front was Alyssa Leah, demigoddess daughter of Minerva, and Axel Klein, demigod son of Hephaestus. Behind them were the two new students- Antony Rollins, who looked fazed by what was happening around there and Serena Gracie, whose hands clenched hard as if trying to bleed my cutting her hand by her nails. Between them was a tall, slender woman in her mid 20s, with a mystical smile - Juliette Rosaline, the present oracle. 

Antony Rollins kept feeling the burning gaze of hundreds of pairs of eyes on his back. From as far as he learnt from the people who had brought him here and the old horse guy, he was in a school of sorts for strange people, which included him. Antony and the others were made to stand in front of the rows of people, facing the round table. Chiron's eyes kept on drifting between the two new arrivals. 

"New divines, first of all I would like to formally welcome you to the School for Divines." Chiron spoke. 

Antony didn't know what to do. Was he supposed to say thank you? Was he supposed to bow? However Chiron saved Antony from any awkward mistakes by continuing on with his speech. 

"I am sure all of you are wondering why this council has been called. It has been 7 years since a Divine has been brought from outside the world. And never before has 2 divines come in together from the outside the walls. But before we arrive to conclusions, we should find out the heritage of these divines."

The students were interested to see the ceremony. It happened rarely because legacies were always born within the walls of this city and their parentage was known. The ceremony was done only for very few demigods. Since the gods had started fading they don't mingle much with the mortals any more. Even if they did, their mortal lovers were brought to the city, where they raised their children.
