(Chapter fifty-one)

The girls and I were in the Apple Rose Grille, talking about Jenna.

"Do we really believe that Jenna was off on a joyride that night?" Aria asked.

"Or it was her plan to take Emily to Ali's grave all along." Spencer claimed.

"Seemed to me like she was scared of someone." Emily said. Yeah,Jenna is very good at pretending.

"And it seemed like she was blind for five months when she wasn't." I stated.

"For purposes of my head not exploding can we just say that she is telling the truth?" Hanna asked.

"Well, that would mean that we would cross her off the new 'A' list." Spencer said.

"Then who's still on it?" Aria asked.

"Lucas?" Emily said.

"No way." Hanna protested. "He might be a little unhinged lately but he's not capable of digging up a grave."

"Guys, all roads lead back to the Black Swan." I claimed. "We know that she was working with Mona the sketches were in her lair."

"Kat." Aria whispered and nudged my arm motioning to the entrance with her head. I looked over just in time to see Jason barge in to the restaurant.

"Did you really think you could avoid me forever? How could you defend Garrett?" Jason demanded.

"Let's not have this conversation here." Veronica said.

"Oh,it doesn't bother you that he murdered my sister?" Jason asked.

"Look, I understand you're upset, but this isn't the place." Veronica exclaimed.

"Just tell me why you're doing it."

"Everyone deserves a competent legal defense."

"You sure that's the only reason?" Jason questioned.

"Let the process play out, Jason. Focus on taking care of your family and yourself." Veronica said.

"Don't worry. I am." Jason claimed, turned around and walked out.

I was the first to gather my stuff and to run after him, the girls following behind a lot slower.

"Jase, are you okay?" I asked as I stopped in front of him. We haven't really talked since I told him about Wren.

"No, but I will be." His voice softened when he talked to me.

"I'm so sorry." I claimed. This whole thing with Ali's disappearance and now with Garrett, is awfully lot. I'm just trying my best to support him in all this.

"Not you fault." He said and glanced behind me to see the girls slowly approaching. "I'm gonna go home. Can we talk later?"

"Yeah, I will stop by on my way home." I replied and he nodded and walked away.
