It has been four weeks. Four weeks since my mate was stolen. I have barely slept, barely eaten, barely kept my control intact. Only five other wolf servants have died by my hands for their foolish mistakes for failing to provide other relevant information about my mate. How she gained weight so slowly, hid parcels of food and water in the flower beds. Kept to herself more than what was expected of her as a Luna. Chose not to go to the classes I assigned, never once opened the books of proper wolf and feminine manners.
These were the things I told them to be watchful of. For I am her mate, and when she is near me it is a distraction of the calming, deceitful sort to see her as perfect, pure, beautiful, and loving. But I see that I was wrong. Now, for hours I have comb through ever search engine, file, archives, records, and other data of Brenna Kriksus and Sarah Felder. There is nothing else, nothing. Not even an extra shred of information in the physical paper trail left by the Kriksus family. As if they have disappeared from the earth entirely after the start of the war. Not even a blimp on our radars during or at the end. Even now, I cannot find a trace of them.
The cold trail is slowly driving me insane. My fingers type fruitlessly again in the Repbulic records, the classifieds, the public censuses, anything. But they are all dead ends. I let my head fall into my hands, bloodshot eyes staring again at the two pictures of my mate. Fifteen year old Brenna and twenty year old Sarah.
"What am I missing?" I whisper to the computer monitor, one callused finger running down the most recent image. "Why can't I find more about you? Who are you?"
As I let my finger drop to the cracked wooden desk, hurried footsteps running down the hall, belay the sound of my office door opening and Charles panting with urgency and excitement. "Alpha, I've caught something within our message servers, and traced the sender's location west of us. Your going to want to see this."
Without hesitation, I follow him out of the office, through the halls, and downstairs into my pack's personal tech and server room. Other technicians are hard at work, going over air and water routes, camera footage, train and highway checkpoint etc. All combining their computer skills and knowledge into tracking down the whereabouts of my mate.
"What have you found?" I gruffly ask, watching Charles like a hawk as he rushes for his personal desk covered in pamphlets, ledgers, binders, coffe cups, and sugary trail mix bars. "The answer to where are Luna has gone too."
I watch him raptly, fingers curling into fists as he pulls up the message, sent to my personal email, and the long line of indecipherable code attached to a series of latitude and longitudinal coordinates. Fury dribbles into my very being, having yet again been deceived, played, and taunted by my worst enemy.
"So, it was her cowardly brother that took her from me," I sneer, canting my head to the side as Charles types in the coordaintes attached to the line of server code. "Well, it seems this Keres has some honor after all, if only when it suites him."
I spy an unopened bottle of water, now invigorated I take a quick long pull of the warm liquid. Watching Charles pull up the geographical location, distance, and ETA of the server's location Keres sent his message. "Call in the Silver Squad, the Trackers, and the Hunters," I order, downing the rest of the water in one long swig. "We leave for the Blue Ridge Mountains in two hours."
