The following years the dragons Kingdom became more established. With a few gold fashioned by the settlements of humans and bits of the gem bracelets were formed for a few dragons in order to allow the transformations. As planned a few exchanges were made between the people. Now where the gem sat they had the palace surrounding it. Imara gave birth to two boys, Prince Noir and Prince Nuri. While Imara and Farris dealt with other stuff with their kingdom Zaila had been given the task to tutored the young princes.
After her lessons with the princess she retired to her room. "How are the boys?" Farris asked, entering the room without announcing himself. "They are strong, but Noir is far stronger and wiser than Nuri." Zaila said as Farris pulled her closed. "And you? Imara said you were feeling ill earlier." He said. "Lack of appetite would hardly be considered ill." She said as he pinched her cheeks. "Then what is that I smell from you? I can smell what you carry." Farris asked as she stepped back.
"It doesn't concern you. Rather, how is my king and his grandiose kingdom doing?" She said, "My kingdom is fine, you know Zaila, you have worked equally hard for my kingdom." He said as she shrugged. "Yes, I have so I do think I should have the freedom I deserve," She answered. "Freedom? You have freedom to do as you please here in my palace. As my consort of course... freedom a little too much of it it seems though," He said looking down at her stomach. "It's not like you were interested in breeding with a mutt, my king, you only want me as your consort to keep me tied to you," she said, shrugging. "You should learn to hold your tongue before I cut it off for you," He said as she sighed. "Do it, you wouldn't have gotten as far as you did without my voice." She answered. "Watch yourself, your offspring depend on it," He said, leaving her in her room.
Shortly after he left Imara entered. "Do you really not know to stay quiet do you," Imara said, closing the door behind her. "Why should I? He can't harm me, he loses too much," She shrugged. "Irie, your sister said something similar that time. What do you mean, what are you two exactly?" Imara asked. "I showed you two how to harness the magic of the gem did I not?" She asked as Imara shrugged. "Of course you did but that's not my question. How did you know how to use it?" Imara replied, getting closer. "We are mutts with too much time on our hands that is all," Zaila answered as Imara shook her head.
"Whether you believe me or not, that is all I can answer," Zaila replied. "Your daughters, you know he will make them stay with our sons," Imara said as Zaila looked down for a moment gathering her thoughts. She glanced at Imara's direction with a smirk. "I don't think my offspring will be suited to your purebred sons," Zaila snickered. "You think I'm joking. It doesn't matter at this point. Not when it involves you, you are more than a mutt Zaila. More than you are telling us." Imara continued. "If I was more as you say, you two should fear me, don't you think?" She answered. Imara shook her head walking back to the door, "Time will expose you Zaila." Imara said leaving.
As it got darker Zaila left her room to the worker quarters. She knocked on the door as it opened. "Zaila, it's late, what's the matter?" The guy asked, looking around before letting her in. "I wanted to make sure you were okay," She said as he furrowed his brow. "Why wouldn't I be?" He asked as Zaila shook her head. "The king is aware of our daughters... please try to stay away from him," She said as he chuckled a bit. "Zaila, I'm a Nightling as well. I think I can hold my own. Besides, it's like you said you are only his wife in title." He said as she put her hand on his face. "Arien! Just do as I say, will" She said as he nodded. "Right okay, understood," He said, kissing her.
The next morning Zaila trained the boys taking some notes as they practiced their transformations. "Psst Zaila" Arien said from the door frame of the training room. She turned to him as she quickly glanced at the boys. "What's the matter?" She asked to walk over as the boys continued to train on their own. "I brought some sweets for your cravings," He said, handing her a small bag. Zaila smiled softly. "Thank you, but you should return to work now," She said as he smiled. "Of Course my lady," He said, bowing and leaving quickly.
