Chapter 11

Persephone wakes up before her dreaded alarm can assault her eardrums with the annoying high pitched beep. She brushes through her hair, thinking of what style she should go for today. Vladimir's words really stuck with her and she is determined to be a badass. She pulls on a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a Freddy Krueger red and green striped tank top with a black pleather jacket layer on top.

Persephone does a cat eyeliner with a bold red lip then heads down the stairs to see her mom playing on her phone. Her dad must have already left for work because his mug was sitting next to the sink. Persephone grabs a granola bar from the cabinet then joins her mom at the table.

Cassandra jumps after her daughter plops on the chair next to her "Oh my word you gave me scare sweet pea. I didn't realize you came down." She scans over Persephone's clothing choice. " Halloween isn't for a few months still Freddy Krueger," Cassandra teases.

"You don't like?"

"I love it. I remember dressing like that when I was your age."

Athena shuffles through the kitchen then sits across from Persephone. Athena looks at her sister as she packs her backpack.

Persephone can see the fear looming behind Athena's eyes. She could tell something was bothering her sister. She was going to find out on their way to school. She grabs her backpack and heads out to the car with Athena right behind her.

Persephone starts the engine and begins their drive to the hell hole that she was ready to face with her new found strength. She looks at Athena ignoring her phone and that fir sure confirmed to her something is wrong.

"Are you gonna tell me what's bothering you?"

"Antonio and I have been hooking up" she says quietly.

"Wait what? Isn't he gay?" Persephone asks.

"No he is bi-bisexual. We learned that about three months or so ago when we got drunk and fucked." Athena looks out her window.

"Ok and whats the issue?" Persephone asks confused.

"I missed a period" Athena bursts out.

"So are you pregnant?"

"I took a test this morning and it came back positive. I am going to go to the gyno after class today. I called and she sad she can squeeze me in today. I'm taking the bus."

"Didn't you use condoms?"

"No I am on the pill like you. So we didn't worry about it." Athena shifts in he seat, staring at Persephone.

Persephone's looks at her sister now realizing she hadn't taken her birth control pill since the night she was kidnapped. She knew she was somewhat safe becasue everytime she and Vladimir had sex he used a condom or pulled out of her before shooting his load.

"Athena you're so stupid at times. Birth control isn't full proof you need a backup plan. There is always that .01% chance," Persephone exclaims. She knew she was being a hypocrite but she didn't care because she was worried for her sister.

"Yeah I know. I'm stupid. Can this stay between us until I find out for sure please?" Athena pleads

"Yes. Just make sure to let me know what happens at your appointment."

"I will," Athena says. She grabs her backpack and saunters to her group of friends waiting close by.

Persephone make a mental note to schedule an appointment with her gyno to resume her birth control as soon as possible then grabs her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. She closes the car door and makes sure the doors are locked before rushing to Maria and Jackson sharing a few kisses under the oak tree by the entrance of the music building. She passes Andrew and his new slew of women without giving a sideways glance. She wasn't going to let him win today or anyday for that matter. This was a new her and she reveled in the power she felt.
