We're finally back in Korea at our dorms. Manager-nim had to explain everything to the company, and with much convincing, they had allowed Bay to stay with us at our dorms. Bay is assigned miscellaneous tasks, from housekeeping to bringing paperwork back and forth places. She seems to enjoy it though because she refuses to sit still for even a second. "I've already done enough of that before," she brushes it off every time I insist she takes a break.
She can now speak almost if not perfect Korean, surprisingly, after two nights of hard work from all of the boys. They'd throw in random phrases while Lay sat next to her explaining every single word in detail, even the word 'shit'.
Imagine my surprise when I heard her mutter the word 'shit' after she dropped a handful of dirty clothes on her way to the laundry room.
All of the boys have gotten used to her. Suho insists on spoiling her, from buying her new clothes (because she doesn't have any of her own) to taking her on food sprees around town. Tao, too, got really excited when he discovered Bay's unexpected ability to endure long training hours in the gym so he occasionally pulls her away for an available sparring partner. From her physical appearance, no one would expect it. But she truly is a jack of all trades.
After I come home with the boys after a gruesome all day practice (Kai and Lay decides to stay back a bit longer being the dancing perfectionists they are), we stumble into the dining area where dinner has already been laid out for us as per usual. I look around in the kitchen, but I can't find Bay anywhere. "Has anyone seen Bay?" I ask, heading towards the living room.
"Nope," I hear someone say with a full mouth. I look throughout the entire house, but I can't seem to find her anywhere, not even in her room.
I pull on my shoes and grab a light hoodie before heading out, screaming, "I'll be back."
It's not like Bay to disappear without telling anyone first. I call her phone that Suho got her a while back but to my dismay she doesn't pick up. I walk along the fencing of the river until I see a familiar figure of a small girl sitting on the top of the fence. I grin, knowing it's Bay and increase my pace to a slow jog. "You don't want me to pull you back again, do you?" I joke, approaching her with a relieved smile on my face. She turns around to face me with a surprised look on her face.
I notice a bit of redness in her eyes, but she smiles it away. "Baekhyun," she breathes and an unexpected shiver shoots through my spine.
"You okay?" I ask, concerned, helping her off the metal fence by holding her waist as she jumps down. My hands are still on her waist, refusing to let go, as I confront her about her puffiness.
"Absolutely," she grins. I give up and ruffle her hair, not wanting to pester her about what could've possibly upset her.
"Araso," I say, grabbing her hand. "Let's go home, okay?"
She follows me without another word and we walk back to the dormitories hand-in-hand. When we get back to the house, Chanyeol meets us at the door with a worried look on his face. He sighs in relief but visibly frowns, noticing our linked hands. I quickly let go, avoiding his eye contact. "Have you eaten yet, Bay?" Chanyeol breaks the silence, letting us in.
She nods. "I'm going to bed," she declares, slipping off her shoes, running back to her room without another word.
"Something happen?" he questions me, arching his eyebrow.
I shrug, not knowing myself. "I found her beside the river," I tell him. "I think she might have been crying."
He nods, looking in the direction where Bay ran off to. "Did she tell you why?"
"I didn't ask."
