Context: right after the French and Indian war, the french had to give up New France (Quebec) to the english since they lost

French Empire: Oh, my trade routes. My poor, poor trade routes...
Random french guy idk: And your daughter, sire?
FE: Oh, yes of course, my daughter
FE: But mostly, my trade routes
France: Hey, père (father)
FE: Who the heck are you
FE: Oooooh yeah!
FE: *proceeds to taxe the 3rd estate so bad France commits matricide *

Quebec/New France is France's older sister
France got his mother killed during the revolution, but his father was allowed to live because he would be helpful
France was barely acknowledged
Ironic, since he's the heir
FE is just a horrible parent in general

New France's main ressources were wood and fur, although France at the time didn't need wood, so the main export was fur for the bourgeoisie. It was also part of the triangular trade with the Antilles and France.
During the Seven years war, there was the Franco-Indian war in the american colonies, and New France lost at the Plains of Abraham. The treaty signed between Britain and France comprised of New France being handed over.
Then the French helped out the Thirteen Colonies become the US out of spite and the borrowed money was never returned, leading to even more economic downturn, and the first French revolution happened.

Fun fact, the first time France sees Quebec after the Seven Years war was 1915. By then, they were both adults and France got half a head taller than her. He was very happy about it.
