Jesse

Things had gone from bad to worse. First she was being pursued by that asshole Adam, and my attempts at getting her to realize what a douche he was, had just made her angry. Then she had gone and attracted the attention of Cillian Whelan, and that was even worse! Not because Cillian was a bad guy or in any way unworthy of her. It was the other way around actually - I wasn't sure V was good enough for my Killer.

Besides, this also made it abundantly clear which team he was playing for, and it wasn't mine.

I'd suspected this all along, especially this summer when he'd hooked up with Juliette. But then he had tried so hard to stay away from her my hopes had gone up again. I thought that maybe he'd tried to hide his true nature by hooking up with her. Which was something I'd never felt the need to do, since I was equally ignored by both sexes. No one questioned my intentions, they just figured I had no game. Which, incidentally, was true.

This thing with V, though, it looked like him pursuing her, and not the other way around. I mean, I had never seen him talk to anyone (except Fat Ed and Ron), unless he had to. Since V had shown up though, he was talking to her whenever he could and their body language was more obvious than a billboard. He even talked to her friends now. I'd seen him and Kayla deep in conversation more than once, and then by extension he was also talking to Leigh and Max. Even Fat Ed seemed surprised by the additions to their usual twosome, but Fat Ed was cool, so he just rolled with it.

V was keeping mum about it, which was driving me up the walls. We had started doing our usual walks again after last weeks debacle when I had tried to steer her away from that moron Adam. Wow - was that just a week ago? It felt like an eternity. Then, the day after, when Kill showed up at school, back after another extravagant holiday somewhere super exotic, everything just got turned upside down. He didn't waste time when he came back, ridding himself of Juliette and latching onto V, and all before lunch.

V and him were practically inseparable at school, but according to V they didn't see each other outside of there. Well, I guess I knew that already since she was out walking with me every day. That was a bit weird, I mean, at school they totally looked like an item and even Adam had backed off a bit after she shut him down when he wanted another date. Rumor had it she had agreed to go on another date with him, but when he tried to make plans for it she just shut him down with no further explanation.

We all knew the reason for it though. It was that freakishly handsome tall bastard with black hair, green eyes. She never said it though, so maybe she wasn't sure about him yet. Maybe that's why she wasn't talking to me? Maybe I should change my approach on the topic from how did you manage to snag dream boy? to; has he kissed you yet, and what did it feel like?

I really wanted to know what it felt like and he must have kissed her by now...or she must have kissed him. I mean, we are not living in the olden days with old fashioned standards anymore, girls can make the first move.

Yeah, I would ask her.

I glanced at my watch and felt my annoyance level spike, she was late. I mean it wasn't like we had a set time to meet or anything, we usually just texted before meeting up, and she had said ten minutes. It had been twenty minutes now which was annoying for many reasons. One; less time for the walk before dinner, two; I had to wait for her. I hate waiting, three... ehm... I guess I only had two reasons to be annoyed, but it was enough.

Maybe I wasn't just annoyed that she was late, but also because being her seemed so very easy. She had boys chasing her, I wished I had boys chasing me! Also, her family was cool. Her dad was a doctor, her mom had an apartment in the city, and V's stepmom was the nicest lady in town. On top of that she had her own car and did not have to bus it to school or beg her mom for a lift, and then request to be dropped off a block away from the building so no one would see their car. For crying out loud, she even had horses!
