Welcome to Camp Magic Wing! Where gifted children from all over can join together for some magical fun in the sun! (Pun defiantly intended)
Here at camp your child will discover their power and learn to use it properly through various camp wide activities.
We offer special classes for learning spells, using elements, and much more.
Magic Wing is a fun and safe environment for all gifted campers ages 5 - 17.
Some may discover their powers quicker than others, so no worries if your child is slow when it comes to their power they'll discover it soon enough.
"...they'll discover it soon enough."
I sigh as I read through the camp brochure. Yeah, three years is definitely "soon" I think. I toss the brochure away and flop down on my bed. I put my hands on my face and groan. "When will I ever learn my power?" I ask to no one in particular.
I look over at the calendar. First day of camp is tomorrow. I have been going to this camp for three years; four years starting tomorrow and I still don't know what my special power is. Practically all the other kids at camp know there's but I don't know mine.
It isn't fair! Why do have to wait so long?! Most people discover their power in their first year of camp!
Alright, I tell myself, if I don't find my power this year I'm not going to go back for another one.
That's what I promise myself. It's going to be a hard promise to keep if I don't find my power. I love camp, but there's no point of going somewhere for gifted children when you don't even have a gift.
Maybe that is my gift. Not having one. Pfft! Yeah right.
I sigh again and stare at the ceiling. Maybe this year will be different. I think before turning over on my side and shutting off my light and going to sleep.
Tomorrow is a big day. All there is to do is hope for the best.

"There it is!" I say as I point out the window to a sign that says "Welcome to Camp Magic Wing!" I bounce in my seat as we drive closer to camp.
My mom laughs, "Carter, calm down!" She says, "You're so bouncy!"
I look at her with a huge smile on my face. "I'm excited, Mom!" I say, "I might finally find my power this year!"
She smiles, "I'm sure you will, sweetie."
I smile and look out my window.
Mom pulls into the camp's parking lot.
There are kids of all ages scattered all over the place. Some of them are wearing camp shirts from years past. A lot of them are showing off their powers to the first year campers.
My mom pulls into an empty parking place. I jump out before she could fully park the car and look around.
It's just like I remember. It looks just like something you'd see in a movie.
A large tree filled forest surrounded the camp. Small animals scurried across the path every once in a while, carrying the occasional acorn with them. The sun's rays shined through the leaves making the scenery look as magical as it actually was.
I close my eyes breath in the fresh forest air.
"Carter!"
My eyes shoot open and I turn around. "Maggie!" I call out as I run over to my friend and give her a bear hug.
She grunts because of the sudden death hug. "Carter, I can't breathe!" she squeaks out.
I let go of her and laugh. "Heh, sorry." I say with an awkward smile. Maggie catches her breath and smiles at me.
Maggie is my best friend from camp. She's the first one to come up to me when I first started going three years ago. We've been friends ever since.
Maggie already knew her power when we met, (she can control electricity, which I thought was awesome.) She showed me her power one night after Campfire (yeah, the camp wasn't too happy with us scorching a tree, but hey, live 'n' learn right?)
She said she found out when she first came to camp when she was six when the power went out in the mess hall and she somehow managed to turn it back on. That makes seven years that she has been going to camp, counting this year. That's what you call a loyal camper!
"So, you giving it another shot?" Maggie asks me.
I nod "yep," I say, "who knows? Maybe this year will be different." She smiles.
We look over as the camp director (or CD as we call him) calls all the campers to attention.
"Hello campers!" CD calls, "And welcome to Camp Magic Wing!" All the campers cheer. Some shoot magic sparkles into the air.
CD holds his hands out "Alright settle down, settle down." he says calming the crowd down. "I have a good feeling that this year will be like no other year at camp! It'll be even better! Who's with me?!"
The campers all cheer in agreement.
"Magic!" CD calls, pumping his fist in the air.
"Wing!" the campers call back, pumping their fists in the air.
"Magic!"
"Wing!"
I smile at the thought of a whole new year. A whole new beginning! It will be different. I know it will
Yeah, this year will definitely be a special one.
