Akuma yawned, feeling well rested. He was suddenly taken in back from the new environment. It took him a second to realize that he wasn't at the orphanage anymore, that he was adopted by someone. He wondered why the stranger decided to adopt him after saving him. He found it odd in a way.
Stretching out a bit, he got out of bed and slowly walked out of his room. He walked in the living room and saw the stranger sleeping on the couch, his mouth agape.
Was he lazy or too tired to go to his room? Akuma quirked a brow. Rolling his eyes, he walked over to the sofa and nudged his shoulder.
The stranger suddenly bolted awake, looked around frantically before realizing it was just Akuma waking him up. "Oh! Akuma.. Sorry–" He chuckled nervously. The boy just rolled his eyes again and went to sit on the couch as the stranger stood up properly. "So, what do you want for breakfast? I'm not a bad cook," the stranger asked. Akuma pondered a bit before answering, "Pancakes" which was a simple recipe to most people.
The H/C-haired man nodded and stood up to start making it. Akuma eventually got up to sit at the kitchen island chairs. He had a bit of a struggle getting on but he managed. He knew it was something to get used to as well. He watched as the adult made the pancakes. Out of curiosity, also to stop referring to him as "the stranger," he asked him what his name was with bluntness.
"Y/N, you can call me that or N/N." Y/N smiled before continuing to make pancakes. "Do you want chocolate? Caramel? I don't have caramel at the moment so I'll have to make that after the pancakes," Y/N asked. Akuma quickly answered with chocolate which Y/N nodded to.
Akuma watches Y/N create pancakes. He could smell how good they must taste. He had to admit, Y/N had some cool skills when it came to flipping them. He flipped them perfectly, without falling to the ground or sticking to the ceiling. And each pancake wasn't burned, each made with perfection. Was he some perfectionist? Akuma wondered as he watched Y/N continue to make a few more pancakes.
Y/N placed all of the pancakes that he made into a plate before grabbing the chocolate syrup. "Do you want any fruit?" Akuma shook his head. "A drink?" The boy answered, "Water." Y/N grabbed two glasses and poured water into both and passed on to the boy.
Akuma grabbed a few pancakes, gave a decent amount of chocolate onto his pancakes and started to eat. He was surprised after the first bite. He didn't actually think it would taste good! He was quite impressed by it. It was a lot better food than his orphanage's options. He continued to eat them with delight.
Y/N watched Akuma eat his pancakes. He was glad the boy liked the pancakes. He was capable of making simple meals. Perhaps he might indulge in cooking and baking in his free time? He didn't know why he started to think that. It felt new to him. All of this was new to him. Having to take care of a child. He knew how to take care of a drunk adult, that's for sure. But a child? He wasn't familiar with it. But he was open to do so.
"So.." Y/N's voice broke the silence. Akuma looked up, waiting for Y/N to speak. "What do you like to do?" He asked. Akuma was a bit surprised by the question. It was a simple question. He thought he would ask him what happened to his parents, like all foster and adoptive parents asked. "Uhm... I like reading.." He muttered softly. "Really? What kind of genre?" Y/N smiled. "Fantasy.. I really like dystopian novels." Y/N nodded in response.
"If you have to say what's your favorite dystopian novel, what would it be?" Y/N asked, trying to engage with the boy. The boy's eyes looked like they lit up with excitement. "Divergent!" The boy replied, his voice loud and excited. Y/N couldn't help but chuckle at his excitement.
"Really? Well, have you seen the movies? I heard it's pretty good." Akuma looked surprised by the fact that there was a movie, but then his eyes widened even more with excitement. "Can we watch it?!" He said with a hurried voice. Y/N was taken a bit back by his sudden outburst, but he chuckled and agreed to watching it.
