Chapter 2: The Little Death.

(The scene opens with a gray car pulling up to a house in a residential neighborhood, the car parks, and a boy with blonde hair gets out wearing a tuxedo. The boy walks up to the front door and knocked, moments later, the door is opened by a man in a police uniform. The man looks the boy up and down, after the man gives the boy a nod.)

Chief Warren: Hello, I'm Chief Kincaid, Jade's uncle.

David: David Collins. Nice to meet you, sir.

(David gives Chief Warren a handshake.)

Chief Warren: David, come on in.

(Listening to the Chief, David entered the house with Chief Warren, closing the door behind them.)

Chief Warren: Jade! David's here!

(As the two males wait for Jade, Warren strikes up a conversation with David.)

Chief Warren: I've been hearing good things about you, David. I understand you're off to Princeton next fall.

David: Yes, sir.

Chief Warren: What are you going to study?

David: Theater Arts.

(Chief gives David a confused look.)

Chief Warren: Mm-hmm. But on an athletic scholarship, right? Playing hockey?

(David has an uncomfortable look on his face.)

David: Figure skating.

Chief Warren: Mm-hmm. Jade!

(On que, Jade was seen making her way downstairs, until she stops to look at her uncle.)

Jade: Warren, don't scream.

(Jade then smiles down to David as she makes the rest of the way downstairs, she approaches the two still smiling at David.)

Jade: Hi.

(David puts his hands on his chest as he looks at Jade.)

David: You look great.

(There was a comfortable silence until Chief Warren interrupted it.)

Chief Warren: Jade, uh, I have to tell you. This guy is a big improvement over the last one.

(You can physically see the expression change on Jade's face, from happy to annoyed.)

Chief Warren: I think your mother and father would've agreed.

Jade: My parents liked all my friends. (sighs out of frustration) I'll be home by midnight.

David: She's in good hands, sir.

(The pair made a hasty escape to the door until their stopped by Warren.)

Chief Warren: Uh... You forget something?

(Turning to the Chief, Chief Warren points to the box David has been holding.)

David: Oh! (to Jade) This is for you.

(David gives Jade the box which she accepts.)

Jade: I love lilies.

David: Actually, it's an orchid. Uh, cymbidium orchid?

(Chief Warren gives David a look as he continues.)

David: You put it in a vase and drop an aspirin in the water, it should last you the whole week.

(David nodded to himself, until he sees the look on Warren face, then he begins to back pedal.)

David: Or so I read. Nice meeting you.
